The Velcro license plate holders<\/strong> from Roadz<\/strong> made a very good<\/strong> impression overall in our test. The set consists of two license plate holders<\/strong>, each consisting of three Velcro strips with barbs and three Velcro strips with fleece. Two alcohol-based cleaning cloths <\/strong>are also supplied. The license plate holders are frameless<\/strong>, as the entire mounting mechanism is concealed on the back. This gives the vehicle a particularly elegant look<\/strong>. All components of the set were also convincing<\/strong> in the practical test. Although the installation effort <\/strong>is higher compared to a conventional screwed license plate holder, both the adhesive and the Velcro connection hold very well<\/strong>.<\/p>

The Velcro license plate holders<\/strong> from Roadz<\/strong> were delivered in a compact cardboard shipping bag. The shipping bag<\/strong> was appropriately sized and the license plate holders had little room to slip. The shipping bag contained the license plate holders with accessories in the product packaging. The product packaging<\/strong> was slightly dented but otherwise undamaged. Both the shipping bag and the product packaging were easy to open without tools.
The product packaging was a rectangular cardboard box<\/strong> in an attractive black and blue design with a vehicle motif. It contained the license plate holders <\/strong>for two license plates, alcohol wipes and a thank you card. The license plate holders consist of twelve individual parts<\/strong> and were divided into sets of three<\/strong> to enable compact product packaging. Overall, the set is well protected<\/strong> in the packaging and no unnecessary packaging material was used.<\/p><\/div>

The license plate holders<\/strong> are each in six parts<\/strong> and are made of black hook and loop tape. Each license plate holder therefore consists of three loop tapes<\/strong> and three hook tapes<\/strong>. The front of the tapes is fully<\/strong> coated with the respective hook and loop material. The adhesive surface<\/strong> also covers the entire back. When delivered, there is still a transparent protective film<\/strong> on the adhesive surface, which is removed for installation. Three Velcro strips are stuck to each protective film. The strips measure<\/strong> 9 cm by 4.5 cm. As with car license plates, the corners of the strips are rounded so that they do not protrude after mounting. A license plate holder, which consists of three fleece strips and three hook strips, weighs only 20 g with protective film. This makes the license plate holder significantly lighter<\/strong> than conventional plastic license plate holders.
The cleaning cloths<\/strong> are folded disposable cleaning cloths with an alcohol content of 75%.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

\u2139\ufe0f Our practical test is the most relevant and therefore the most important. Here, the product has to undergo a wide range of criteria and tests. We check the functions and product promises of the test article. <\/p>

We carry out our practical test<\/strong> on the rear bumper of a standard compact car. First, we remove the old license plate holder<\/strong>. This is attached to the plastic of the bumper with four screws<\/strong> and can be quickly removed. The Velcro strips are attached to the rear bumper and the license plate with an adhesive <\/strong>bond. Adhesive bonds can transmit very high forces <\/strong>, but require appropriate handling<\/strong>. For this reason, we adhere exactly to the instructions in the fitting instructions<\/strong>.
Assembly is carried out in several steps<\/strong>. First, the area of the rear bumper to which the license plate is to be attached is thoroughly cleaned<\/strong> using one of the alcohol wipes<\/strong> and then dried<\/strong>. Three Velcro strips<\/strong> with barbs are then attached<\/strong> there. We attach one of the tapes to the center of the vehicle, the other two so that the outer edge is just inside the license plate. Instead of measuring, you can also simply use the removed license plate as a template. It is important to ensure that the bumper has a continuous surface<\/strong> in the area of the Velcro strips. For example, it is not possible to attach the Velcro strips to the grille of a radiator grille.
As the Velcro strips are slightly smaller than the license plate itself, it is not necessary to position them<\/strong> with millimetre precision. In our test, we based our positioning on the holes in the bumper into which the old license plate holder was screwed. It is important to ensure that the adhesive tapes are applied with sufficient precision<\/strong> in the first step, as it is not<\/strong> possible to remove them again due to the high adhesive strength of the glue.
In the next step, the back of the license plate <\/strong>is cleaned and also dried. The Velcro strips with fleece are attached here at the same distance as on the bumper so that the hook and fleece strips lie exactly on top of each other<\/strong> when the license plate is attached.
The license plate<\/strong> can now be attached <\/strong>to the bumper<\/strong>. The Velcro strips are about two centimeters smaller in height than the license plate. This difference can be used for fine alignment<\/strong> by placing the loop tape and the hook and loop tape slightly offset on top of each other. If necessary, the license plate can be carefully <\/strong>removed and reattached <\/strong>.
Overall, the installation is easy<\/strong> to carry out, even for users with no manual skills, thanks to the good description. However, the cleaning and the triple positioning (straps on the vehicle, straps on the license plate, license plate on the vehicle) increase<\/strong> the installation effort<\/strong> compared to screw-on license plates. The license plate holder is also suitable for mounting on bumpers<\/strong> of any curvature<\/strong>. The limit here is not the license plate holder, but the flexibility of the license plate.
After drying, the license plate adheres <\/strong> firmly <\/strong>to the vehicle and there is no risk<\/strong> of it coming off while driving. Nevertheless, a higher adhesive force <\/strong>would have been possible with wider strips. In our case, we carried out the test on a license plate with the standard width of 52 cm. Here, approx. 3\/4 <\/strong>of the back of the Velcro strips remain free<\/strong>. So there would have been plenty of room for wider tapes.
The visual appearance <\/strong>is particularly positive <\/strong>. In contrast to many alternative solutions, the Velcro license plate holder is actually frameless<\/strong>, as the entire holding mechanism is concealed behind the license plate.<\/p><\/div>

On the Amazon<\/strong> platform, consumers have given the product an average rating of 4.5 stars<\/strong>. One common criticism is that the surface area of the Velcro tape is too small. Many customers like the fact that the adhesive bond holds well and the high-quality look. In our practical test, we were able to confirm the successful appearance and the good hold of the adhesive bond after installation. However, we can also understand that the small surface area of the hook and loop tapes on standard license plates still offers room for improvement and that an even better hold could be achieved with a larger surface area.<\/p>

Prices of up to \u20ac25.09<\/strong> are charged on the Internet for equivalent products. Very inexpensive products are available from<\/strong> as little as \u20ac7.99<\/strong>. With a price of \u20ac9.99<\/strong>, the Roadz license plate holder<\/strong> is currently in the lower price segment<\/strong>. The price ratio is very good<\/strong> for the quality and scope of services you get. <\/p>
