The premium stainless steel decking screws<\/strong> from INNONEXXT\u00ae<\/strong> were delivered in a compact and sturdy shipping box<\/strong>. The shipping box was easy<\/strong> to open, even without tools. As the shipping box was slightly oversized, the empty space was filled with recycled paper<\/strong>. Inside the box were the decking screws in their product packaging. This meant that the decking screws were very well protected<\/strong> during transportation.
The product packaging<\/strong> is a resealable<\/strong> cardboard box in a simple green design. Again, no tools are required to open it. The box is appropriately sized<\/strong> for the decking screws and is filled almost to the brim with screws. This saves space during transportation. Like the product box, the decking screws are undamaged<\/strong> and in very good condition. In addition to the screws, the product box also contains a small plastic bag in which the appropriate bit<\/strong> for the screws is shrink-wrapped. The bag lies on top of the screws and protects the bit from scratches caused by the sharp-edged screws. Above all, however, the bag ensures that the bit can be found<\/strong> quickly and easily<\/strong> in the pile of almost identically colored screws.<\/p><\/div>

Decking screws and bit in detail<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div><\/div>

The decking screws<\/strong> are supplied in the size 5.0 x 50 mm<\/strong>. The first number indicates the diameter including thread, the second number the length from the tip to the end of the head. A measurement confirms <\/strong>the manufacturer’s specifications. According to the manufacturer, the screws are made of stainless steel <\/strong>and are anti-friction coated. Stainless steel is resistant to corrosion <\/strong>and weathering<\/strong>. The screw is therefore also suitable for prolonged outdoor use. The coating<\/strong> is characterized by a slightly greasy surface. The color of the screw is matt-sibern, the mass of one screw is 3.9 g.
The screw consists of five segments<\/strong>: it starts with a tip<\/strong> that extends over a length of 10 mm until the screw reaches its full diameter. The tip is threaded from the start and also has a cutting notch to prevent cracking and splitting. The tip is seamlessly followed by a 20 mm long threaded section<\/strong>. The thread pitch is 2 mm, the internal diameter 3 mm. This is followed by the third part, the 10 mm long end mill<\/strong>. This has several threads, a significantly larger thread pitch and a reduced outer diameter of 4 mm. This serves to shorten the screw-in time. This is followed by another 4 mm long shank<\/strong> with a diameter of 3.5 mm. The end of the screw is formed by the conically widening head <\/strong>with a length of 6 mm. This increases the diameter at the end of the screw to 6 mm. The top of the head is slightly rounded and has a drive profile for T25 bits.
Like the screws, the matching T25 bit<\/strong> is matt silver. It has a length of 25 mm. With its hexagonal profile, the bit fits into standard bit holders.
Overall, both the screws and the bit holder make a very good quality impression<\/strong>. They are sturdy and very well made. The good quality and weather-resistant material of the screws indicate a long service life<\/strong>.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

A commercially available cordless screwdriver<\/strong> is used for the practical test<\/strong>. Although in principle it is also possible to screw in the screw with a screwdriver, it is much easier with a cordless screwdriver. Thanks to the thread starting at the tip of the screw, the screw grips <\/strong>firmly in the wood after just a few turns and starts to turn into the wood. The screws can be screwed in easily and without great effort<\/strong>. The anti-friction coating<\/strong> helps here. With soft wood, as in our case, no pre-drilling is necessary.
The conical<\/strong> countersunk head<\/strong> allows it to be fully countersunk into the wood so that nothing protrudes. However, a small disadvantage of the screws is that they cannot be magnetized <\/strong>and therefore do not adhere to the bit. This makes it easier for the screws to come loose from the bit and possibly slip between already installed decking boards.
The T25 bit<\/strong> supplied fits perfectly into the screws and into the bit holder of our cordless screwdriver. In contrast to Phillips screws, the bit does not tend to slip out of the screw by itself. This means that once the screw has been gripped, no axial force needs to be exerted on the screw during screwing, which makes screwing in very convenient<\/strong>. As the bit can be magnetized<\/strong>, it remains in the bit holder even if it is held upside down – as is the case when screwing in. After screwing in, the bit can be easily removed from the bit holder.
After screwing them in, we found that the screws actually grip very well <\/strong>and create a stable connection <\/strong>between the decking boards. It is not possible to get stuck on the screws, which are completely countersunk into the wood. This is particularly important as a terrace should also be able to be walked on barefoot <\/strong>. If a screw is not fully countersunk into the wood, the rounded shape<\/strong> of the screw head helps to reduce the risk of injury. As the screws are made of weather-resistant stainless steel <\/strong>, they should retain their strength and appearance even when left outdoors for long periods of time.
In summary, it can be said that the optimization of the decking screw in trials actually offers demonstrable advantages<\/strong>. Installation is simple and convenient. Even after installation, the screws impress with their rounded head and high-quality material. Accordingly, the screw and bit made a very good impression<\/strong> in the practical test.<\/p><\/div>
