MEISTERWERK self-adhesive magnetic discs in the test 2023

The self-adhesive magnetic plates from MEISTERWERK were completely convincing in our test. They are supplied in product-appropriate packaging and impress with their excellent workmanship. The back of the plates has an adhesive layer, making them easy to attach to various objects. The plates can be used to attach and detach objects from ferromagnetic surfaces such as a fridge door as often as required. In our practical test, the high level of flexibility and the ease with which they can be removed from the foil of the plates were impressive. The adhesive layer adheres very well to various objects. Light objects such as a ruler or a lighter can be attached successfully. The adhesive force of the adhesive layer exceeds the magnetic force, which means that the adhesive surface of the plates remains attached to the object as desired, even after repeated removal. For heavy objects, however, the magnetic force is too low to attach them to vertical surfaces.

We took a close look at and tested the product in a practical test. In the following, we take a closer look at the features and impressions. From the packaging, materials and quality to the range of functions and handling, the product is subjected to our test procedure.

ℹ️ Here we take a closer look at packaging. Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important factor. In addition, adequate protection of the product must of course also be guaranteed. Are the contents of the packaging complete and does the manufacturer make it as easy as possible for me to use the product straight away?

The product packaging consists of a plastic bag with a zip fastener. The bag is the right size for the magnetic plates and can be easily opened and closed again with the closure. As the magnetic discs are robust and resistant to damage, we believe that the packaging guarantees product protection. The right size makes the product packaging very compact and requires only a small amount of material. Unfortunately, the plastic used is not very sustainable.

The plastic bag contains the magnetic tiles on several levels, each of which is held together by a common foil . Accessories are not supplied, but are not necessary. Instructions for use in German are included. There are also installation and usage instructions on the label of the plastic bag. These are also written in German and are easy to understand.

ℹ️ Before we start the practical test, we take a close look at the workmanship of the products. How high quality are the materials used? Are the look and feel satisfactory?

We get seven levels, each with 50 magnetic tiles. This results in a total of 350 pieces. As promised, the magnetic sheets are ten millimeters long and wide, and one millimeter thick.
The self-adhesive layer on one side of the magnetic sheets is protected by the foil that holds the layer together. The other side appears untreated and shiny gray. Its surface has an even structure and is smooth to the touch.
The material thickness is uniform and the edges are straight and burr-free. All 350 pieces are exactly the same size, which can be clearly seen from the arrangement as delivered. The workmanship is therefore very good. The magnetic plates are tear-resistant and can still be bent. The good quality indicates a long service life.

ℹ️ Our practical test has the highest relevance and therefore weighting. Here, the product has to undergo a wide range of criteria and tests. We check the functions and product promises of the test article.

In our practical test, we attach the magnetic plates from MEISTERWERK to various small objects and try to make them adhere to a ferromagnetic surface. We use a standard household refrigerator for this. The first step is to remove the magnetic plates from the foil. This is quick and easy. The plates can also be bent slightly, which makes it possible to attach them to curved surfaces.

Next, we stick the plates onto various objects. The adhesive surface adheres very well to all tested objects, most of which are made of plastic. In our test, we tested a ruler, a lighter, a cell phone and the instructions for use of the plates, among other things. The field strength of the magnetic plates is high enough to hold such light objects on our test refrigerator. The adhesive force of the adhesive surface is stronger than the magnetic force, so that the objects can be easily detached from the surface without the plate detaching from the object.

For heavier objects, several magnetic plates can also be attached to increase the holding force . Our practical test has also shown that it is advantageous to stick the magnetic plate above the center of gravity of the object or to use at least two plates per object if the object is to point upwards with a certain side. Otherwise, it is easy for the object to tip over on the surface and align itself with the heavy side facing downwards.

The next step is to remove the magnetic plates from all surfaces. This is easy and leaves no residue. Finally, we test the weather resistance. To do this, we place one of the plates on the inside of a sink for some time, where the plate is exposed to temperature changes and moisture. Even at the end of our test, there were no signs of corrosion. Despite the moisture, the magnetic plate still had enough holding power to support its own weight, even though the adhesive had clearly suffered from the moisture.

ℹ️ Finally, we examine how the product compares to the competition. Can it keep up with the competition in terms of price and quality? Would we generally recommend buying it? We also look at the consumer reviews and check whether the critical and positive reviews are actually justified.

On the Amazon platform, consumers rate the product with an average of 4.2 stars. Both positive and negative reviews focus on the magnetic holding force. Some customers praise this, others criticize it. On the other hand, the workmanship and holding power of the adhesive surface are rated positively. We are also very satisfied with the workmanship and adhesive surface in our test. The magnetic force is only sufficient for light objects, so satisfaction depends on expectations.

For equivalent products with an edge length of 10 mm, prices of up to €13.98 for 300 pieces are charged on the Internet. Very inexpensive products are available for as little as € 7.99 for 300 pieces. The self-adhesive magnetic plates from MEISTERWERK are therefore currently in the upper price segment with a price of € 13.99 for 350 pieces. The price-performance ratio is reasonable for the quality and performance received.
