Reorda® magnetic strips writable in test 2023

The write-on magnetic strips from the Reorda® brand performed well overall in our product test. They are supplied in practical packaging that is also suitable for storage. For our practical test, we received the color mix with a total of 30 magnetic strips in six different, vibrant colors. The magnetic strips are flexible and tear-resistant, but the writable surface of some strips peels off easily from the magnetic layer in the edge area as soon as they are delivered. Practical tests have shown that the magnetic strips can be written on very well with foil pens. Water-soluble markers can be easily wiped off again, so the magnetic strips can be reused as often as required. However, the magnetic strips are less suitable for other pens and washing them under the tap should be avoided, as this will greatly accelerate the removal of the surface. However, the holding power of the magnetic surface is impressive.

We took a close look at and tested the product in a practical test. In the following, we take a closer look at the features and impressions. From the packaging, materials and quality to the range of functions and handling, the product is subjected to our test procedure.

ℹ️ Here we take a closer look at packaging. Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important factor. In addition, adequate protection of the product must of course also be guaranteed. Are the contents of the packaging complete and does the manufacturer make it as easy as possible for me to use the product straight away?

The product packaging consists of a flat cardboard box, which is inserted into a cardboard sleeve, similar to a matchbox. The cardboard is black and printed on the front. The sleeve is shrink-wrapped in plastic film. In our opinion, this could have been dispensed with, as the contents are sufficiently protected by the cardboard and are not particularly sensitive. A small adhesive strip would be sufficient to prevent unintentional opening. The extensive packaging more than guarantees product protection. The box with the magnetic strips inside is the right size.
The black color gives the box an elegant design. As the box can be resealed, it is also ideal for storage. Accessories are not included, but are not necessary. A concise instruction manual in German can be found inside the box. As the product is largely self-explanatory, this is perfectly adequate.

ℹ️ Before we start the practical test, we take a close look at the workmanship of the products. How high quality are the materials used? Are the look and feel satisfactory?

The magnetic strips are available in different colors. For our test, we used the color mix of bright colors. The set contains six magnetic strips each in the colors yellow, orange, red, light blue and light green. As promised by the manufacturer, the strips are 15 cm long and 10 cm wide. The corners are rounded. While the reverse side of all magnetic strips is a metallic grey with a fine surface texture, the smooth front side has strong colors in high gloss. The material thickness is uniform and the edges are straight and burr-free. All 30 pieces are exactly the same size, which can be easily recognized by the arrangement as delivered. The magnetic strips are tear-resistant and can still be bent. The corners and edges are a possible weak point. When you run your finger over them, the colored surface comes away from the magnetic base in some places as delivered.

We start our practical test of the writable magnetic strips from Reorda® with a test of the adhesive force on a standard refrigerator with a metal door. The magnetic strips adhere very well in the desired position. Removal is also very easy and, as expected, leaves no residue. We find the compromise between good hold and easy removal to be very successful. Thanks to their flexibility , the magnetic strips are also suitable for attaching to curved surfaces. The strips can even be cut into individual shapes using scissors. The next step is to test writing on the magnetic strips. We use different pens for this. The best and easiest way to do this is with a foil pen. The smooth and non-absorbent surface of the magnetic strips is most comparable to an overhead projector screen or a whiteboard. Satisfactory results cannot be achieved with other pens such as a highlighter, felt-tip pen or ballpoint pen. The color appears pale and, depending on the pen, may bleed in places. The magnetic strips cannot be written on at all with a pencil. It should also be noted that hard pens such as ballpoint pens and pencils leave a slight groove in the relatively soft surface of the magnetic strips.
Next, we try to remove the writing again. The water-soluble foil pen can be easily wiped off with a cloth or water. The highlighter, felt-tip pen and fineliner can also be easily removed in the same way. This means the magnetic strip can be reused as often as required. A permanent foil pen, on the other hand, cannot be removed. In the case of the ballpoint pen, washing-up liquid and a little scrubbing is required, but this can also be removed without leaving any residue, apart from the groove.
Finally, we test the durability. When wiped with dry or damp cloths, there are no signs of wear. However, if the magnetic strips are rinsed under the tap , moisture penetrates between the magnetic surface and the writable surface. This is initially noticeable by a dark discoloration at the edge, and a short time later the adhesive also comes off. The magnetic strips should therefore always be wiped clean with a cloth.

ℹ️ Finally, we examine how the product compares to the competition. Can it keep up with the competition in terms of price and quality? Would we generally recommend buying it? We also look at the consumer reviews and check whether the critical and positive reviews are actually justified.

On the Amazon platform, consumers rate the product with an average of 4.2 stars. Many customers like the different colors and the organization options that the writable magnetic strips create. However, there is criticism of the quality of the magnetic strips, as some customers complain about the writing surface peeling off . In our practical test, we can confirm the basic functionality of the magnetic strips, but we also receive strips where the writing surface begins to peel off.

Prices of up to €29.99 are charged on the Internet for equivalent products. Inexpensive products are available from € 27.95 . The writable magnetic strips from Reorda® are therefore currently in the lower price segment with a price of € 19.99. For the quality and performance received, the price-performance ratio is good.
