The dough roller arrives in an attractively designed cardboard box. The most important product details and illustrations of the components are printed on it. The cardboard box looks sturdy and offers sufficient protection. Inside are the six spacer rings in three different sizes, each wrapped in plastic film. The dough roller itself is wrapped in bubble wrap to prevent scratches and pressure damage. Sustainable material would be desirable at this point, even if the film used serves to protect the product.
The product does not come with instructions for use. However, this is not necessary as the use is self-explanatory and is illustrated on the packaging. Overall, the dough roller makes a very good first impression.

Not only the packaging, but also the product itself is impressive when you first touch it. The coated stainless steel of the dough roller shines in a modern silver colour, the black plastic handles are lightly textured and sit comfortably in the hand. The product has no recognisable defects, so we consider the workmanship to be neat and flawless.
The dough roller also reliably withstands an initial, short load test and appears very robust and resistant overall. The spacer rings also appear to be well made and fit together perfectly without any protrusions. The choice of colours – turquoise, purple and pink – may be questionable, but is certainly a matter of taste. At least the different sizes are easy to find.
The only point of criticism is that the manufacturer does not provide any information on the sustainability of the product. However, due to the good workmanship and the fact that it can be cleaned in the dishwasher, we assume that it will have a long service life.

The dough roller from Blackvapor delivers what the manufacturer promises. Thanks to its robust design and excellent workmanship, the product exudes reliability and durability. Even under increased load and improper handling, the product remained stable and in shape in our test.
Handling the dough roller and the various spacer rings was as easy as it was convenient. The rings can be stacked on top of each other one after the other, depending on the desired spacing on both sides. The manufacturer supplies spacers for 1/8″, 1/4″ and 1/2″, which corresponds to approximately 3 mm, 6 mm and 12 mm in the metric system. The dough roller can of course also be used without spacer rings.
The ergonomic design of the handles supports this comfortable handling and ensures an all-round pleasant user experience. The slightly textured surface ensures a good grip and prevents slipping during rolling.
We also consider the rolling behaviour to be pleasant and smooth. Even with harder dough, a consistent and reproducible result could be achieved. When used for a round cake dough, however, the product design showed a certain weakness. Due to the outer rings, the dough roller cannot be guided diagonally across the surface, meaning that only oblong or rectangular pieces of dough can be reliably rolled out to the desired thickness. This makes it difficult or even impossible to use for certain shapes. Even if this obviously follows from the product concept, a note from the manufacturer would be desirable here. However, further tests with a classic pasta dough, for example, produced excellent results.
The dough roller was also convincing after cooking and baking. Cleaning by hand proved to be easy, as the parts had few nooks and crannies and were easily accessible. However, the dishwasher-safe design in particular is a plus point and definitely a decisive advantage over the classic wooden model.
