The 40x32cm BBQ grill mat from Linda’s Essentials is an inexpensive and useful accessory for a cosy barbecue evening or as a durable baking paper solution for the oven. The 40x32cm surface is ideal for baking trays of the usual size. However, the grill mat can also be cut to any size if required. The smooth surface makes it very easy to clean without leaving any discolouration or residue. A slight odour is noticeable when first heating up, but this quickly dissipates. It is no longer noticeable the second time it is heated up. It was also found that the edges are not always completely clean and neatly finished. Minimal fibre residue is visible, but this does not limit the usability of the product.

The BBQ grill mat is supplied in a simple and sufficiently sturdy cardboard box. It is rolled up in a plastic film that protects the product from external influences. However, some of the edges of individual mats were found to have been uncleanly finished. The product was supplied complete with operating instructions . Although the product is self-explanatory, important instructions on placement and temperature resistance were provided.

The barbecue mat has a good overall finish. However, the edges are not completely smooth and even. There are fibre residues, which presumably occurred during processing. Although this does not affect the use of the product, it does affect its appearance. Despite its flexibility, the product is stable and resistant. The mats are manufactured uniformly from high-quality materials so that they are resistant to both cold and heat and can be used several times.

In the practical test, the grill mats weretested both on the charcoal grill and in the convection oven at temperatures of up to 300 degrees Celsius. Cleaning the grill mats was easy and problem-free. Minimal residue was visible on the edges, but this was only noticeable on closer inspection and was not a problem. The grill mats only change slightly when heated to high temperatures. However, the functionality remains good. When heating up in the oven, a slight but barely perceptible odour was noticeable for a short time , but this quickly dissipated and was no longer a problem. The structure and surface remain virtually unchanged after use, with no deterioration or destruction of the product to be expected. Finally, the barbecue mat was cooled to room temperature after use and rolled up. Minimal changes were found, but these are unproblematic and do not affect the reusability of the barbecue mat.

On the Amazon platform, consumers rate the product with an average of 4.6 stars. In some cases, the fact that the product cannot be used multiple times is criticised. On the other hand, the ease of use and the fact that the mats can be cut to size are emphasised positively. In our practical test, we were able to confirm that the ease of use is well received by customers. However, consumer criticism of the alleged single use is not justified.
Prices of up to €16.18 are charged on the Internet for equivalent products. Very affordable products are available from as little as €7.99 . The BBQ grill mat from Linda’s Essentials is therefore currently in the middle price segment with a price of €11.99. For the quality and performance received, the price-performance ratio is good.
