The diamond drill bit set from Werkstein made a very good impression in our test. Drilling holes is very easy with the four diamond drill bits with diameters between 6 mm and 12 mm using a cordless screwdriver. However, precise drilling requires skill and practice. The carbide drill bit can be used to pre-drill notches easily and precisely, making it easier to position the diamond drill bits. As an added bonus, the product packaging is also suitable for permanent storage of the drill bit.

The diamond drill bit set from Werkstein arrived in a recyclable shipping box. The box contained the diamond drill bit set in its compact product packaging. Thanks to the appropriate size of the shipping box, the product packaging could only slide around a few centimetres inside. The diamond drill bit set and the associated product packaging were undamaged and in perfect condition. Both the shipping carton and the product packaging could be opened easily without tools.
The product packaging consists of two parts: The lower part is a black plastic cylinder, which has an external thread. The inside of the cylinder is completely filled with foam. There are five holes in the foam itself, into which the tools are inserted along the length of their shafts. The tools sit firmly in the holes, but can also be easily removed and reinserted. The upper part is also cylindrical, but is made of transparent plastic. It can be screwed onto the lower part using the internal thread. In addition to the five drill bits, instructions for use are included in the product packaging.
The elaborate product packaging provides the tools with excellent protection against damage during transport. The product packaging is also suitable for permanent storage of the tools.

Product processing and appearance
ℹ️ Before we start the practical test, we take a close look at the product processing. How high quality are the materials used? Is the look and feel satisfactory?
Criterion | Remark | Score achieved* |
---|---|---|
Visual appearance | All diamond drills are completely and evenly painted in blue, small scratches on the drill bit | 95 points |
Processing | All parts have a high-quality finish | 100 points |
Stability | The tools are made of sturdy metal | 100 points |

The diamond drill bits are made of metal and are therefore very sturdy. The outside is painted blue and the shank is also labelled with the drill diameter on the underside. The labelling on the shaft prevents it from being rubbed off during use. The shank is designed as a hexagon and therefore also fits into standard cordless screwdrivers. The actual drill bit is located above the shaft. This is filled with cooling wax on the inside and has a very rough, sparkling silver diamond tip. All drill bits are 67 mm high. The actual drill bit accounts for 32 mm of this. The diamond tip extends over 10 mm. The drill bits do not have a groove or other device for removing the drilling material.
The pilot drill also has a hexagonal shank with the diameter labelled on it. In contrast to the diamond drill bits, however, this is brass-coloured. Unfortunately, small scratches can be seen there, but these have no effect on the function. The hexagonal shank merges into a thin shaft, at the end of which there is a flat, arrow-shaped tip with sharp edges.
Overall, the four diamond drills and the pilot drill make a high-quality impression and are well made.
This is what our practical test showed
Does the manufacturer keep its advertising promises?
ℹ️ Our practical test is the most relevant and therefore the most important. Here, the product has to undergo a wide range of criteria and tests. We check the functions and product promises of the test article.
Criterion | Remark | Score achieved* |
---|---|---|
Mounting the tools | Simple assembly with the hexagonal shank | 100 points |
Use of the spot drill | Quick creation of precise and helpful notches | 100 points |
Drilling with the drill bits | Fast drilling, but requires skill and practice for precision | 80 points |
Total | 93 points |
*The maximum score is 100 points
In our practical test, we used a commercially available cordless screwdriver. It should be noted that our cordless screwdriver only reaches a speed of 1800 rpm, although the manufacturer recommends a speed of between 2000 rpm and 3000 rpm. A standard tile, as used in bathrooms, serves as the test object. Drill bits and diamond drill bits can be attached to the holder of the cordless screwdriver or a drill just like normal drill bits.
To drill a hole, first drill a notch with the drill bit as recommended in the instructions. The drill bit does not bounce, so the notch can be drilled precisely into the tile. The tip of the drill bit is very sharp and cuts through the tile quickly. Now you can switch to one of the diamond drill bits.
As described in the instructions, we first position the diamond drill bit at a 30° angle to the tile. This reduces the contact surface and a crescent-shaped indentation is quickly cut into the tile. It is important to ensure that the speed is not set too low. Otherwise, the rough drill bit surface may jam in the previously created notch, causing the drill bit to slip. It should also be noted that the centre of the hole is not created in the notch of the pilot drill, but slightly offset. This is because the edge of the drill bit is placed in the notch.
Once an initial indentation has been made, the tool is slowly tilted and drilled further until it is perpendicular to the surface. To remove dust and residue from the hole, the drill bit is rotated slightly until the hole is complete. Our test tile can be drilled through in a short time.
After drilling, you should wait a short time as the tool gets hot during use. As the drill bit is filled on the inside, no drill core is produced. The four different drill bits behave very similarly in the practical test; no significant differences can be identified.
Due to the rotary movement, the holes are a few millimetres larger than the diameter of the drill hole. With a little practice, however, it is possible to create uniformly round holes.
Overall, the diamond drill bit set performs very well in the practical test. Drilling is quick and easy with the diamond drill bits, even if only a cordless screwdriver is available. However, practice and skill are required for precise drilling.
Price/performance ratio
and ratings from consumers
ℹ️ Finally, we look at how the product compares to the competition. Can it keep up with the competition in terms of price and quality? Would we generally recommend buying it? We also analyse consumer reviews and check whether the critical and positive reviews are actually justified.
Criterion | Remark | Score achieved* |
---|---|---|
Price / performance ratio | Very good quality in the medium price range | 70 points |
Rating cut | 4.3 out of 5.0 on Amazon | 65 points |
Total | 68 points |
*The maximum score is 100 points
On the Amazon platform, consumers have given the product an average rating of 4.3 stars. They often criticise the fact that the drill bit breaks off and the diamond drill bits wear out quickly. Many customers like the fact that even very hard materials can be drilled through. In our practical test, no drill bits broke off and our test drillings showed hardly any signs of wear.
Prices of up to €48 are charged on the Internet for equivalent products. Very inexpensive products are available for as little as €9.60. The diamond drill bit set from Werkstein is currently priced at €33.12, which puts it in the middle price segment. The price ratio is reasonable for the quality and scope of services you get.
