The FAIRMO putty chisel made a good impression in our test. The product offers a high quality levelling chisel with a tapered tip. Thanks to the SDS-Plus holder, the chisel can be mounted on any standard machine with a corresponding holder. The set is therefore quickly mounted and ready for use. When driven by the drill, the chisel becomes an electric trowel. The product can be used to quickly remove adhesive, vinyl flooring, tiles, carpet residue and paint. The trowel is equipped with a tapered tip. This makes it easier for the tool to get under the material to be removed. The material used is of very good quality. There are no unpolished edges or processing errors on the putty chisel.

The packaging and labelling
ℹ️ Here we take a closer look at packaging. Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important factor. In addition, adequate protection of the product must of course also be ensured.
Criterion | Remark | Score achieved* |
---|---|---|
Product protection | Carton is sturdy, product sufficiently protected | 100 points |
Sustainability Packaging | Item was packed compactly – use of bubble wrap for packaging | 85 points |
Miscellaneous | Neat impression | 90 points |
Total | 92 points |
*The maximum score is 100 points
The FAIRMO putty chisel arrived for our test in a typical shipping box, so it was easy to open by removing the adhesive strip and the product was delivered undamaged. The product parts were wrapped in bubble wrap or plastic film so that the packaging protects the product from scratches and dirt. In this case, the product was fully protected and the filler chisel was therefore in perfect condition.
The packaging of the product is not completely recyclable.
The first impression is very good, as neither the product nor the packaging used was damaged.
After unpacking
Package contents and instructions
ℹ️ Most people’s first impression after unpacking is immediately memorable. Are the contents of the pack complete and does the manufacturer make it as easy as possible for me to use the product straight away?
Criterion | Remark | Points achieved* |
---|---|---|
Package contents & scope | Filler chisel, spare blade, lock nuts | 100 points |
Instructions for use | Not available, but not absolutely necessary for this product | 90 points |
Contact information | Can be found on the box – no customer hotline given | 90 points |
Total | 93 points |
*The maximum score is 100 points
The box contained the putty chisel, a replaceable blade and a set of matching lock nuts. The contents of the package were also printed in German on the packaging. Instructions for use are not included with the set, but this is not absolutely necessary for a product of this type. A telephone number could not be found on the packaging.
All in all, however, this is a very good way to send a product.

The filler chisel from FAIRMO makes a very good visual impression in the test. It is made of hardened special steel. FAIRMO has also thought about sustainability. The filler blade can be resharpened and is replaceable. The product impresses with its weight of 640 g and stable workmanship. The customer is supplied with a high-quality levelling chisel. This means that the product can be used for a long time and does not have to be disposed of. We cannot find any information on sustainability , but the materials used appear to be of very high quality, which is why we assume a long service life.
This is what our practical test showed
Does the manufacturer keep its advertising promises?
ℹ️ Our practical test is the most relevant and therefore the most important. Here, the product has to undergo a wide range of criteria and tests. We check the functions and product promises of the test article.
Criterion | Remark | Score achieved* |
---|---|---|
Utilisation | Very simple | 100 points |
Handling | Customer friendly | 95 points |
Stability during use | Very stable and no weaknesses | 95 points |
Miscellaneous | Depending on the nature of the part to be removed, the substrate will suffer | 85 points |
Total | 94 points |
*The maximum score is 100 points
We really enjoyed using the FAIRMO levelling chisel during practical testing. It is very simple and straightforward to use. The SDS scraper has a solid and sharpened blade. As it is thinner than the usual SDS chisels, you can get under tiles relatively flat when removing them, for example, and the entire tile comes away easily from the floor or wall.
The trowel has a good hardness, but is not so glass-hard that the sharpened edge breaks out under load. It can also be easily reground again and again. It also makes a stable impression both visually and mechanically.
How well or gently the work is done also depends, among other things, on the hammer drill / chisel. In our test, epoxy resin and paint splashes were removed. With the more solid epoxy resin, the subfloor (screed) was affected, but the paint could be removed easily and without any significant traces.
In the long term, we cannot make any statement, as this would require a practical test over a longer period of time. Our conclusion from the practical test: easy handling and a successful result.
Price/performance ratio
and ratings from consumers
ℹ️ Finally, we look at how the product compares to the competition. Can it keep up with the competition in terms of price and quality? Would we generally recommend buying it? We also analyse consumer reviews and check whether the critical and positive reviews are actually justified.
Criterion | Remark | Points achieved* |
---|---|---|
Price / performance ratio | Good quality at a reasonable price | 95 points |
Rating cut | Not rated, as there are still too few customer reviews | |
Total | 95 points |
*The maximum score is 100 points
Prices of up to €91.90 are charged on the Internet for equivalent products. Very inexpensive products are available from as little as €19.97. With a price of €49.90, the FAIRMO levelling chisel is currently in the middle price segment. The price ratio is reasonable for the quality and scope of services offered.
