The packaging and labelling
ℹ️ Here we take a closer look at packaging. Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important factor. In addition, adequate protection of the product must of course also be ensured.
Criterion | Remark | Score achieved* |

Product protection | Carton is sturdy, product sufficiently protected | 100 points |
Sustainability Packaging | Apart from the protective film, no unnecessary packaging waste was used and the item was packed compactly | 85 points |

Total | 95 points |
*The maximum score is 100 points
The first aid kit from WERKSTEIN arrived in a perfectly fitting product box sealed with adhesive tape, which also serves as shipping packaging. The box was undamaged and easy to open with a pair of scissors. The box contained the first aid kit, which was protected by bubble wrap, as well as several stickers. The bubble wrap provides reliable protection against dirt and damage during shipping. There was still a protective film on the surface of the first aid kit, which was easy to remove. This protective film would not have been necessary due to the bubble wrap already being present.
The stickers in accordance with ISO 7010 each include behavioural instructions for accidents and fires, two directional arrows and a first aid cross and are packed in a zip bag.
Overall, the first aid kit from WERKSTEIN makes a very good first impression.

Overall, the product offers a comprehensive and complete overall package and makes a good first impression. Unfortunately, there is no contact information for customer service.

Product processing and appearance
ℹ️ Before we start the practical test, we take a close look at the product processing. How high quality are the materials used? Is the look and feel satisfactory?
Criterion | Remark | Score achieved* |
---|---|---|
Visual appearance | High quality inside and out | 100 points |
Processing | Very good workmanship, rounded edges. Interior cover is difficult to open | 80 points |
Stability | Box made of unbreakable material | 100 points |
Sustainability of the product | Durable box, medical devices can be refilled during use | 100 points |
Total | 95 points |
*The maximum score is 100 points
The first aid kit is made of sturdy ABS plastic and has a practical carrying handle. The box is in a striking orange colour, which makes it easy to find in an emergency. The front is also appropriately labelled and features a first aid cross. Next to the cross are fillable fields for emergency numbers. An eyelet for attaching a security seal is attached to the top. The locking collars of the case are highlighted in colour to make it easier to open the case in stressful situations.
When opened, the case splits into two halves, which are connected by a hinge. The edges of the halves have a rubber seal to protect the contents from dust and moisture. Inside, the case is divided into small compartments in which the medical devices are neatly organised. The medical devices are individually packed, as they should be. The compartments on each side are kept closed by a transparent acrylic glass cover. However, the holding mechanism of these covers is difficult to open, which is unfavourable in an emergency.
Overall, the box makes a robust impression; apart from the covers, which are difficult to open, there is nothing to criticise about the workmanship. There is therefore nothing to prevent it from being used for a long time.
This is what our practical test showed
Does the manufacturer keep its advertising promises?
ℹ️ Our practical test is the most relevant and therefore the most important. Here, the product has to undergo a wide range of criteria and tests. We check the functions and product promises of the test article.
Criterion | Remark | Score achieved* |
---|---|---|
Assembly | Simple assembly, assembly material available, but tools are required | 95 points |
Private use | Recommended for private use | 100 points |
Commercial use | Recommended for commercial use | 100 points |
Sticker | High-quality sticker, but not phosphorescent | 95 points |
Handling | Case can be used on the wall or simply removed | 100 points |
Total | 98 points |
*The maximum score is 100 points
The first aid kit is recommended for private use. The wall bracket is easy to mount on the wall with four screws. However, you will need tools to drill the holes and a screwdriver. The box can be pushed into the bracket and removed again without damaging anything. With the opening stopper, which can be attached to the underside of the box, the lower side only opens to a maximum of around 90 degrees. This makes it easy to remove medical products from the bottom half even if the case is still hanging on the wall.
For commercial use, the contents are tested in accordance with the DIN 13157:2021 standard. All the necessary medical devices are included. Apart from the requirements of the standard, it would also be desirable if the stickers with directional arrows were phosphorescent to show the way even in poor visibility conditions in an emergency.
Price/performance ratio
and ratings from consumers
ℹ️ Finally, we look at how the product compares to the competition. Can it keep up with the competition in terms of price and quality? Would we generally recommend buying it? We also analyse consumer reviews and check whether the critical and positive reviews are actually justified.
Criterion | Remark | Points achieved* |
---|---|---|
Price / performance ratio | Good quality even in the mid-price segment | 85 points |
Rating cut | 4.8 out of 5.0 on Amazon | 90 points |
Total | 88 points |
*The maximum score is 100 points
On the Amazon platform, consumers have given the product an average rating of 4.8 stars. The acrylic glass cover on the inside is often criticised for being difficult to open. Many customers like the quality and the sorting inside. The lack of individual medical products is not criticised, but it remains unclear whether customers check the extensive contents in detail for completeness. In our practical test, we were able to confirm that the cover is difficult to open, but the quality of the box and the sorting inside are very commendable.
Prices of up to €60 are charged on the Internet for equivalent products. Very inexpensive products are available for as little as €20. The first aid kit from WERKSTEIN is currently priced at €39.97, which puts it in the middle price segment. The price ratio is good for the quality and scope of services provided. Unfortunately, the lack of bandages prevents a better rating.
