Product description of the manufacturer
The reusable drinking straws in this set promise a sustainable alternative to classic disposable straws. The set includes 50 straws in different colours and a cleaning brush – ideal for everyday use with hot and cold drinks.
The product scored highly in the test with its high stability, pleasant mouthfeel and neutral-tasting material. Even with intensive use, there were no breaks or cracks.
However, cleaning is a little more time-consuming as the straws are not dishwasher-safe and have to be cleaned by hand with a brush.
Despite minor weaknesses, the set is a sustainable solution with an appealing design and versatile usability.
Advantages

Packaging and contents
Here we take a closer look at packaging. Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important factor. In addition, adequate protection of the product must of course also be guaranteed. Are the contents of the packaging complete and does the manufacturer make it as easy as possible for me to use the product straight away?

The drinking straw set leaves a positive first impression. The packaging is compact and reliably protects the product from transport damage – the straws arrived clean and undamaged. Although the outer protective film is made of plastic, which can be viewed critically from an environmental point of view, it provides secure product protection. A switch to paper or cardboard would be desirable here. The set is complete – it contains 50 straws in different colours and a matching cleaning brush. No classic instructions are included, which is justifiable due to the self-explanatory use. The necessary instructions are printed directly on the packaging to save resources – a small but sensible contribution to sustainability. Overall, the first impression is one of functionality, clarity and a well thought-out packaging concept with small potential for improvement in the area of environmental friendliness.

At first touch, the product has a consistently high-quality appearance. The straws have a modern and appealing appearance – the choice of colours (bright, glittery, black, white) in particular appeals to a broad target group. The material quality is significantly better than that of conventional disposable products. There are no sharp edges, the feel is pleasant and the surface has a clean finish. The straws make a stable and robust impression without appearing brittle or fragile. Even if there is no detailed information on the production or the plastics used, it can be said that the reusability and robust design make this product a more sustainable option for everyday use. The lack of information on the origin of the material somewhat spoils the overall impression, but does not detract from the overall positive impression in terms of design and quality.

In the practical test, the straws were convincing in almost all areas. The material and stability met expectations: Even with improper use, such as severe bending, there were no breaks or cracks. Only in extreme cases was there a slight, visual kink, but this did not impair the function. There is also nothing to criticise in terms of ease of use: The straws fit well in the hand, provide a pleasant drinking sensation and leave no chemical aftertaste – neither with cold nor hot drinks. A particularly positive aspect was that the material is completely odourless and tasteless. One small point of criticism is cleaning: Although a cleaning brush is included, the fact that the straws are not dishwasher-safe means that more effort is required on a day-to-day basis – especially if the straws are not rinsed immediately after use. Soaking makes cleaning easier, but is not always practical. Reusability after several cleaning cycles is given, at least for three cycles. However, a long-term assessment cannot be conclusively made during the test. Overall, however, the manufacturer’s promises were largely fulfilled.

Prices of up to €19.99 are charged on the Internet for equivalent products. Very cheap products are available from as little as €7.99 . Greenland ‘s drinking straws are therefore currently in the lower price segment with a price of €9.99. For the quality and performance received, the price-performance ratio is very good.
