The handlebar tape for road bikes from Kellago is a useful accessory for road cycling that can be used for road bikes as well as mountain bikes or e-bikes without any problems. Installation is self-explanatory, but an explanatory video is included as a QR code. One positive aspect is that the product is very easy to cut to size, so that it can also be used for bikes with different handlebars without any problems. It sits comfortably in the hand and absorbed shocks well in the practical test. On the negative side, we noticed that although the adhesive strip holds, it is very thin and needs to be applied precisely.

The product is delivered in a sturdy and sufficiently large cardboard box. When unpacking, the two handlebar tapes are once again in a sturdy box with a QR code for wrapping instructions. Both handlebar tapes are wrapped in plastic film, which is necessary for product protection during shipping. The adhesive strip is protected from soiling with a paper strip. The product can also be easily fitted to a handlebar without the wrapping video.

The design of the handlebar tape is black, matt and simple, so that it can be attached to various handlebars without immediately standing out. The workmanship of the material is the same over the entire length , very good and without any production residue. It makes a very flexible and pliable impression, but is nevertheless very stable and also offers a good grip for the hands. No information is given on the durability of the product, but the very good workmanship suggests a long service life.

The product was scrutinised on a 25 km off-road tour over trails, through forests and over streams. The handlebar tape guaranteed maximum grip in wet and dry conditions as well as during prolonged use, without any feeling of insecurity. Comfort was also significantly increased by the clearly noticeable damping, so that there were no signs of fatigue in the hands during the entire ride. Assembly and disassembly is easy even without a video, and the explanatory video speaks positively in favour of the product. Another positive aspect was that the product did not emit any chemical odours and was completely odourless.

On the Amazon platform, consumers rate the product with an average of 4.1 stars. In some cases, the fact that the adhesive strip is not centred is criticised. On the other hand, the soft and functional design and the high holding power are emphasised positively. In our practical test, we were able to confirm that the soft and functional design of the handlebar tape is well received by customers. However, consumer criticism of the low holding force was not justified.
Prices of up to €20.44 are charged on the Internet for equivalent products. Very cheap products are available from as little as €6.49 . The handlebar tape from Kellago® is therefore currently in the middle price segment with a price of €12.99. For the quality and performance received, the price-performance ratio is very good.
