After unpacking the product, three different product components were found on the table: a carving knife wrapped in plastic, a medium brown leather knife sheath and a pair of protective gloves. Overall, the product arrived well packaged and adequately protected. Overall, the packaging can be rated as sustainable . In addition to the high-quality carving knife, the pair of protective gloves included with the product is a particularly positive feature. This ensures even more safety when carving, as cuts can also be prevented. Points are deducted for the instructions for use, as these can only be downloaded in the form of an e-book. In terms of sustainability, this is a plus, but a printed version, for example on recycled paper, would have been desirable for a product for children. With a printed booklet, it would be easy for the child to take the tips & tricks for carving outside to play with.

The children’s carving knife from ALTIVATIV is visually appe aling thanks to the beautiful grain on the wooden handle. The knife is ergonomically shaped and sits comfortably in the hand. Its well thought-out dimensions make it perfect for children’s hands. The use of materials (genuine leather for the sturdy sheath, stainless steel for the blade and comfortable, high-quality fabric for the gloves) indicates the longevity and therefore sustainability of the product. When you hold the knife in your hand, you will notice that the components are of a high quality and are very stable .

When you place the children’s carving knife on the piece of wood to be worked on, it quickly becomes clear that the blade has a good grip. It is not too smooth, so the risk of slipping is minimized . Even if you do slip, the rounded tip of the knife and the protective gloves supplied provide good protection for children’s hands. The knife sits comfortably in the hand and is easy to guide around the piece of wood. Even when applying strong pressure, the impression is that the product components are very stable and of high quality . Overall, it can be assumed that this is a durable product that can promote children’ s manual skills, creativity and concentration. There are slight deductions in the age information – while it is immediately clear in the Amazon store that the product is suitable from the age of 6, there is no easily recognizable indication on the delivered product. Here, for example, it would be possible to print the age rating on the outside of the box.
