In our case, the awning holder from GRAFT came with other products in one matching shipping carton at. The box was undamaged and easy to open without any additional tools. There is a black one in the product packaging Carrying case, which is closed with a zipper. The front is inscribed with the brand name GRAFT. By opening the zipper, the transport case can be opened in two halves. Each half includes an awning bracket and a multilingual instruction manual. The two transport case halves are shaped to fit the awning holder and are covered with black fabric. So the awning holders are not only against dust and dirt excellently protected, but also against scratches and bumps.
The instructions for use contain not only one German language instructions, but also instructions in English, Spanish, French and Italian. The instructions are written precisely and understandably, the individual steps are also illustrated with colored images. The awning holder can be described as a large suction cup with awning foot mount and clamping lever. On the outside of the suction cup is a black plastic cover which is the front of the awning bracket. In the top of the plastic cover is the awning foot mount integrated. The foot mount consists of a rail shaped to fit the awning feet and a locking hook for locking. The locking hook is preloaded by a metal spring, which is located inside the foot mount.
Below the foot mount is the clamping lever for attaching and detaching the suction cup. The cocking lever is also made of black plastic. However, with a material thickness of around 2,5 mm and several internal reinforcements, it is sufficiently robust to operate the suction cup. Suction cup and clamping lever are firmly connected to each other via a metal joint shaft and a metal rod. The suction cup itself is made of black rubber.
All in all, the awning holder from GRAFT makes a difference very robust impression. All components are well made and very stable. Uneven edges in the plastic can only be seen on the back of the awning foot mount, but these do not impair the function. The black design works edel, only on closer inspection does it become apparent that it is made of plastic. In addition, the black color scheme is suitable for blending in unobtrusively with both subtle and unusual motorhome designs. Since the awning holder can be detached again, it can be used as often as you like and with any number of mobile homes.

To Installation a smooth, flat surface must be selected, which can be found on the body of a mobile home, for example. If the suction cup or surface is dirty, they must first be cleaned gereinigt and be cleaned of oil, grease, dirt and dust. First the clamping lever is opened. Then the awning holder is pressed against the selected surface with the suction cup in front and the clamping lever is closed again. For this is no great effort necessary. The awning base can now be pushed into the mount until the snap-in hook snaps into place. The installation is therefore quick and uncomplicated. The same applies to the reduction. The locking hook must be released here in order to be able to remove the awning base again. The awning holder can be easily detached from the surface by opening the clamping lever.
The base of the awning holder is designed for three different, common RV awning base shapes from Thule, Fiamma and Dometic. That's it Compatibility given with standard awnings. Unfortunately, there is no adapter piece or screw hole to be able to use the awning holder universally.
The manufacturer specifies a tensile load of up to 50 kg for the suction cup. However, when used as intended, the suction cup will be subjected to pressure and shear. Since increasing pressure on the Holding power affects, we measured the maximum shear force in our test. To do this, we weighed down the suction cup with weights until it gave way. We carried out the test on a clean, smooth plastic surface. In this test, the suction cup could carry just over 20 kg. This corresponds to the shearing force exerted on a suction cup by an 80 kg awning with even mass distribution, which is attached with two suction cups. Since in this case an additional pressure force is exerted on the suction cup due to the inclined awning feet, the maximum load capacity will be even higher in reality. Accordingly, the holding power as very well to rate.
In our practical test, the GRAFT awning holder was able to withstand its simple assembly and disassembly and the simple design convince. The holding power is far more than sufficient to be able to set up awnings safely on the mobile home.
