The 50×50 mm slat plugs from moinkerin are specially designed for use in square tubes with a wall thickness of 1 mm to 2.5 mm. They are particularly suitable for retrofitting or replacing end caps on chairs, tables, sofas or shelves. The product is supplied in a set of four and is made of high-quality, impact-resistant plastic PE, which is moisture-resistant and robust. Installation is tool-free and simply involves inserting the plugs into the tube.
In tests, the pipe plugs impressed with their precise fit, secure locking in the pipe and good sliding properties, which reliably protect sensitive floors.
On the downside, the surface scratches more easily under heavy use, although this does not affect the function.
Overall, moinkerin offers an inexpensive and functional standard product with these plugs that can be used in a variety of ways.

The plugs were delivered in a simple plastic bag, which provides functional product protection but is not environmentally friendly. The delivery was complete, all four plugs were moulded without defects and had no visible flaws. A brief instruction manual was included, but this is acceptable given the simple handling. At first glance, the overall workmanship appeared uniform and functional.

The workmanship of the plugs was impressive overall: the lamella structure is evenly moulded and the PE material is free of burrs or sharp edges. The surface is functional but not scratch-resistant, as was particularly evident in a comparison test with a metal brush. Nevertheless, the shape and functional surface remain stable. The black colour is neutral and suits many metal profiles. Visually simple but technically flawless.

In practical testing, the moinkerin lamella plugs proved to be consistently functional and reliable. The accuracy of fit was checked by inserting them into square tubes with different wall thicknesses. In all cases, the plugs were easy to install without tools and sat firmly and securely in the tube without any play or wobbling. Even under heavy pressure or weight loads, they remained in position – clear evidence of their high stability and dimensional accuracy.
In chemical resistance tests with cleaners such as vinegar cleaner and all-purpose cleaner, the PE material used showed no reactions or visible changes. The surface remained smooth and uncoloured, which also makes it suitable for outdoor or workshop use. Only in the scratch test with a metal brush did a certain susceptibility to visible marks become apparent – however, the product remained fully functional.
The odour test was also positive: even after opening at room temperature or after brief exposure to warm air, no unpleasant plastic odour was detected. Overall, the product impressed with its practical properties, high suitability for everyday use and clean workmanship – an all-round successful performance.
