The Riveting Pliers Set from Swada came in our case along with other products in a suitably sized one Shipping box at. Apart from the rivets, the set consists of a total of six parts: Four metal drill with the diameters 2,5 mm, 3,5 mm, 4,2 mm and 5,0 mm, one Case for the set and the Nietzange. The different mouthpieces for the different rivets are attached to the rivet tongs. The set is through 40 rivets each of sizes 2,4 mm, 3,2 mm, 4,0 mm and 4,8 mm.

The Case consists of two interconnected plastic halves, which can be quickly opened and closed with a clamping mechanism. On the Outside is embossed with a three-dimensional pattern. For our field test we use two metal sheets, which we fasten flat on top of each other. First we start with the smallest rivets. The first step is this Drill a suitable hole. The next largest drill to the rivet is used for this. In this case, that is the 2,5 mm drill bit for the 2,4 mm rivet. The drill is sharp and has good concentricity. After a short time, using a commercially available cordless screwdriver drilled a suitable hole through both sheets.
Now the fitting mouthpiece screwed into the head of the riveting pliers. The entire attachment at the tip of the rivet pliers can be adjusted by turning. The adjustment mechanism can be used if necessary to screw in the mouthpiece more easily.
The rivet can now be inserted into the pliers with the mandrel first. The one from the pliers head protruding rivet shank is guided into the drilled hole. This shows a great advantage of the riveting tool, because the back of the hole must for this inaccessible be. In contrast to a connection with a screw and nut, there is no need to counterhold on the back. Riveting is therefore also suitable for connections that are only accessible from one side.
The next step is the Pliers pressed together. Usually the stop of the pliers is reached before the riveting process is completed. The pliers are opened again and squeezed again. The procedure is repeated until the mandrel breaks off. Then the process is complete. In the case of the thin rivets, the strength of one hand is sufficient. In practice, however, it is recommended both hands to use. If the rivet mandrel breaks off, the pliers jerk. It can easily happen that the pliers head slips over the surface of the objects to be connected. If the surface is sensitive, scratches can occur. However, by using the second hand, the risk is significantly reduced.
The two metal sheets are already firmly held together with the first rivet. They are right on top of each other rivet connection presses the two plates together without a gap. A second rivet connection is required to secure the two plates against twisting.

Im processed state the heads of the rivets differ on either side of the joint. The front side facing the pliers is wide and flat, while the side facing the back is narrower and higher. For example, in the case of the 4,8 mm rivet in our case, this results in a width of 10 mm and a height of 1,5 mm on the front, and a width of 6 mm and a height of 4 mm on the back. The smaller rivets are also correspondingly smaller when processed. while the front is almost point-symmetrical, the back is slightly uneven.
