The Roros outdoor sleeping mat from KIRKJUBØUR® made a very good impression in our test. The mat has a number of advantages, including a self-inflating function that makes it quick and easy to inflate. It can also be connected to other mats to create a larger lying surface using the buttons on the side. The quick assembly and disassembly of the mat makes it easy to use on the move. However, some negative points were also noticed during the test. Firstly, there are no instructions for use, which makes handling more difficult. In addition, the lying surface is significantly smaller than expected when inflated, which could be a limitation for some users.

The KIRKJUBØUR® brand sleeping mat has been carefully packaged to ensure optimum product protection. The packaging consists of a transparent plastic bag. This packaging provides effective protection against soiling and damage during transportation.
The package contents include the green outdoor sleeping mat itself, which is ideal for outdoor use. The packaging also contains a storage bag with the brand logo, which makes it easy and practical to store the sleeping mat. In the event of repairs, two repair patches are included to enable the mat to be repaired quickly. Two elastic bands are also included, which can be used for compact storage of the sleeping mat if required.
Unfortunately, there are no detailed operating instructions. There are therefore no instructions for use. However, the plastic packaging contains care instructions for washing and information on the material composition.

The mat comes in a matt green shade and has an integrated cushion. The cushion is printed with the brand name . This gives the sleeping mat an individual touch and underlines the recognizability of the brand.
The workmanship of the sleeping mat is clean and precise. All seams are carefully executed, which indicates high quality and durability. The use of high-quality materials is evident and contributes to the overall robust and hard-wearing nature of the sleeping mat. This is particularly beneficial for users who regularly use their sleeping mat outdoors or take it with them on longer camping trips.
The mat is made of 100% PVC, a water-repellent material that also protects against moisture and is therefore ideal for outdoor use. Unfilled, the mat measures approx. 175 x 60 cm and offers space for a small to medium-sized person. The integrated pillow measures approx. 30 x 57 cm and provides additional comfort and support for the head.

The self-inflating function of the mat works as described. By opening the air valve, the mat fills itself with air. However, we found that the mat initially had too little padding in our test. We therefore recommend additionally inflating the mat with your mouth after inflation to achieve better lying comfort. This procedure allows the degree of firmness to be individually adjusted according to personal preference. However, the usual turning noises associated with such products were not absent.
The separately inflatable pillow also meets expectations. It can be inflated by mouth, with the valve resembling a typical air mattress valve. The size of the pillow provides sufficient support for the head and enables a comfortable sleeping position .
Removing the air from the mat is easy. The valve is opened and the mat is rolled up. The valve is then closed to prevent new air from entering. This deflation process makes it quick and easy to prepare the mat for transportation or storage.
Another positive feature is the ability to connect the mat to other mats using buttons on the sides. This allows several mats to be combined to form a larger sleeping surface, which is particularly practical for camping trips or overnight stays with company.
During the test, we found that the inflated mat has a lying surface of 168 cm x 54 cm, which also includes the pillow supplied. Unfortunately, these dimensions are a limitation as they are slightly smaller than expected. It is important to note that the dimensions of the inflated sleeping pad are significant as they affect the user’s comfort and freedom of movement. The limited sleeping surface may not be sufficient for people who are taller or require more space when sleeping.
According to the manufacturer’s product packaging, the sleeping mat can be cleaned in the washing machine at a maximum of 30°C. In our case, however, it was sufficient to wipe the sleeping mat with a damp cloth, as the surface is water-repellent and therefore stains can be easily removed.
