“Primus” bike bag in the 2023 test

The “Primus” pannier from MIVELO made a very good impression in our test. As well as being easy to assemble, the product impresses with its simple, timeless design and wide range of colours. The material is made of waterproof, thermoplastic polyurethane and has a high-quality appearance. As a real multifunctional talent , the product can be used as a rucksack, shoulder bag and bike bag. It offers plenty of storage space, a removable laptop compartment, a bottle holder and a front pocket for smaller items. Both the reflective logo and the lock supplied ensure sufficient safety during transport and in road traffic. The Velcro fastener at the bottom of the bag provides the desired stability.

The “Primus” pannier from MIVELO arrived for our test in a typical shipping box. This was undamaged on arrival and could be easily opened by removing the adhesive strip. Inside the product box, the pannier was wrapped in plastic film. This type of packaging ensured that the product was optimally protected from external influences and dispatched hygienically. Product protection was therefore fully guaranteed and the bicycle bag was delivered in perfect condition .
The packaging is partially recyclable. However, the plastic film cannot be recycled . Nevertheless, the presentation of the product makes a very good impression.

ℹ️ Most people’s first impression after unpacking is immediately memorable. Are the contents of the pack complete and does the manufacturer make it as easy as possible for me to use the product straight away?

The “Primus” bike bag is hygienically packaged in a plastic film. The product is made of thermoplastic polyurethane. The correct handling and assembly is briefly described in German on several small cards for the individual product components . The contact information can be found on a label in the product and on the card. However, there is no customer hotline. Nevertheless, this is a very good way to send a product.

ℹ️ Before we start the practical test, we take a close look at the product processing. How high quality are the materials used? Is the look and feel satisfactory?

First of all, the “Primus” pannier makes a very good visual impression. The material is dimensionally stable and there are no visible seam defects. The individual components look high-quality and robust. The product also impresses with its simple, timeless design.
There is no information about the sustainability of the product. However, due to the high-quality materials used, we assume a long service life . Dirt can also be simply wiped off.

The “Primus” pannier is a real multi-functional talent and offers a wide range of possible uses. In the test, the product impresses as a rucksack, shoulder bag and bike bag. The shoulder strap supplied can be quickly attached and removed, while the rucksack straps and the fastening rail can each be stowed away in their own compartment. With a volume of 20 litres and a load capacity of 12 kg, the bag offers plenty of storage space. The laptop compartment is removable and smaller items can be quickly stowed away in the front pocket . A water bottle can also be carried on the side. The reflective logo on the front increases safety in road traffic. The material is waterproof, which we can confirm from our test. Dirt can therefore be easily wiped off.
Thanks to the Quick-Connect system and various adapters, it can be mounted in next to no time. All you need is a luggage carrier. If the preset distance does not fit, the system can be adjusted to a range between 7 and 15 cm using the Allen key supplied . The pannier can be secured against theft with the lock supplied , providing additional security during transport. The Velcro fastener at the bottom of the bag provides the desired stability.
Customers can currently choose from the colours carbon, yellow, grey, jeans blue, mint, olive green, red, sand beige and black.

ℹ️ Finally, we look at how the product compares to the competition. Can it keep up with the competition in terms of price and quality? Would we generally recommend buying it? We also analyse consumer reviews and check whether the critical and positive reviews are actually justified.

On the Amazon platform, consumers have given the product an average rating of 4.4 stars. One point of criticism is the fastening system, which broke after a while. Other reviewers had no problems with the quality and even praised it. The design, functionality and ease of installation are also emphasised. These points also convinced us in our practical test. Whether the material gives way after some time would have to be tested in a long-term test.
