Test result preview
In our test, the running waistcoat from Ryda Active proved to be a very good product overall, which impresses with its high level of comfort and functional design.
Small details in particular, such as sewn-in emergency contact information, silver reflectors in various places and compartments in different sizes, show an understanding of the customer’s needs and an overall clever product design.
The only negative aspect in our test was the pocket for the foldable drinking bottle included. Unfortunately, this is a little too small for a fully filled bottle.
Nevertheless, the manufacturer offers an overall suitable and well thought-out product for beginners and advanced runners.
Advantages
- Breathable fabric
- High wearing comfort
- Several compartments for various items
- Incl. drinking bottle
Disadvantages
- Compartment for drinking bottle a little too small

Once the waistcoat is unpacked and lying on the table in front of us, we take a closer look at it.
At first glance , the running waistcoat looks inconspicuous. The mostly black fabric is complemented in some places by silver reflective labelling , which makes a harmonious and pleasant overall impression.
No defects can be found in the workmanship of the product. The zips look solid and the seams are all neat and tidy . There are also no visible material protrusions or other defects, resulting in a harmonious and high-quality overall appearance.
The running waistcoat is stable. The seams withstand an initial, short stress test by pulling and pushing and appear robust and tear-resistant. The fabric adapts to the pulling movement and appears resistant.
Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not provide any further information on the sustainability of the product. However, due to the high-quality workmanship, a long service life can be assumed. In addition, the manufacturer scores further plus points with the careful packaging method, although additional information would still be desirable.

Overall, the Ryda Active running waistcoat impressed us in our test with its comfortable feel and well thought-out fit.
The breathable fabric ensures that the waistcoat sits comfortably even on longer runs and the skin is well ventilated. The overall fit is harmonious and adapts well to the body. For our test subject (80kg, 185 cm), however, the straps had to be pulled to the smallest possible setting for a tight fit. For thinner people, the product could therefore be cut a little too wide.
In terms of moisture management, the running waistcoat scores highly with its breathable material, which reliably absorbs moisture and dries quickly. Even during intensive training sessions, the fabric remains comfortable against the skin and prevents uncomfortable sweating. The quick drying time is particularly practical as it ensures comfort even on longer runs.
The pocket functionality of the waistcoat is well thought out and offers various pockets in different sizes, which are ideal for keys, a water bottle or snacks such as energy bars. One small point of criticism concerns the foldable water bottle included. When it is fully filled, it does not fit perfectly in the pocket provided and protrudes slightly over the edge. This can be annoying when running, as the bottle wobbles or knocks against the body. A slightly higher pocket would be ideal here to stow the bottle more securely and comfortably.
The waistcoat’s fastening mechanisms are very solidly made. The zips work reliably and are robust so that they remain secure even when repeatedly opened and closed.
In terms of weight, the running waistcoat impresses with its lightness. It is pleasantly light and hardly puts any strain on the runner, which makes it even more comfortable to wear . Even with full pockets, the waistcoat remains comfortable to wear and does not restrict freedom of movement.
Overall, the waistcoat offers a good balance of functionality and comfort, only the pocket for the water bottle could be better adapted to the needs of runners.
