The wall shelf from Tømmermann has already impressed in practical tests during wall mounting. The concealed fastening proves to be reliable: The shelf can be attached easily and precisely, sits firmly on the wall and remains absolutely stable even under load. The load test with the recommended maximum weight shows no deformation or instability. The solid wood construction remains dimensionally stable and silent even when fully loaded with books or decorative elements. The accuracy of fit of the connecting elements is also impressive: All drill holes and brackets are precisely machined, assembly is easy and requires no readjustment. The surface is evenly sanded and oiled, which ensures a pleasant feel and high-quality appearance in everyday use. The scratch test with a standard household spanner does leave fine marks, but these are only recognisable on close inspection and do not impair either function or appearance. The oiled surface also proves to be resistant in the moisture test: When wiped with a damp, well-wrung cloth, neither swelling nor discolouration occurred. After complete drying, the structure remained unchanged – without cracks, material erosion or recognisable changes to surfaces or edges. Nevertheless, waterlogging should be avoided, as natural wood can react sensitively to prolonged exposure to moisture despite effective surface treatment.
Overall, the wall shelf from Tømmermann offers careful workmanship, high resilience and good material properties. The slight sensitivity to scratches is typical of natural wood and can be easily compensated for with regular care.
