The SÖLDEN winter jacket from Nebulus made a good overall impression in our test. The jacket is available for men in five different colors and sizes. It has a full-length zipper, a high collar and pockets on the front. For our test, we received the jacket in black for men and size M . In our case, the fit proved to be a little too loose, giving it a baggy feel. Due to the generous fit of the winter jacket, there is a possibility that cold air will be drawn into the jacket from below in windy conditions. However, the jacket still fits comfortably , the smooth outer surface is extremely water-repellent and the lining keeps you nice and warm . Unfortunately, the zipper tends to get stuck.

The SÖLDEN winter jacket from Nebulus was delivered together with other products in a sturdy shipping box. The shipping box was undamaged and easy to open with a knife or scissors. The box was also optimally sized and filled to the brim. This helps to protect the environment, as the amount of material required for the shipping box is minimized and the transport vehicles are better utilized. Inside the box was the SÖLDEN winter jacket in its product packaging. The product packaging consists of a tear-resistant and non-stretchable transparent plastic bag. The Nebulus logo is printed on the front of the packaging. A sticker on the packaging contains a barcode as well as the product name and the size of the jacket. On the back of the packaging there are multilingual warnings about the risk of suffocation from the bag, including German and English. The bag has a resealable opening on the top, which is provided with an adhesive strip. If the bag is returned, it can be resealed with the existing adhesive strip. There is a thin layer of paper between the individual layers of the folded jacket to prevent the material from rubbing during transportation. The SÖLDEN winter jacket is optimally protected from damage and soiling by the cardboard box and the plastic bag.

ℹ️ Most people’s first impression after unpacking is immediately memorable. Are the contents of the package complete and does the manufacturer make it as easy as possible for me to use the product straight away?

As you would expect, the SÖLDEN winter jacket does not require any additional accessories and is delivered without them. On the label there is a cardboard disc the size of a beer mat, which is printed on both sides in high gloss with the Nebulus logo, which can also be found on the product packaging.
There are no instructions for use, but they are not required. Washing instructions can be found on a label on the inside of the jacket, where this is illustrated with the familiar symbols. There is also information on the material composition of the SÖLDEN winter jacket, the size and the product name.

ℹ️ Before we start the practical test, we take a close look at the product processing. How high quality are the materials used? Is the look and feel satisfactory?

The SÖLDEN winter jacket is a quilted jacket with row-shaped segments. These segments are filled with soft material. The outer and inner surfaces are made of a very fine, smooth fabric, which unfortunately feels somewhat synthetic. According to the manufacturer, both the fabric and the filling are made of polyester.
For our test , we received the winter jacket in black for men. In addition to this color, Nebulus also offers the jacket in red, dark grey and the two shades of blue Malibu and light blue. The black color of our test jacket is very elegant and gives a subtle and timeless look. These color combinations vary depending on the color selection.
There is a Nebulus lettering embellishment on the chest. There is a Nebulus patch on the sleeve. The inside of the jacket is mostly green. The front is closed with a green zipper . To ensure that no cold gets into the inside of the jacket through the zipper, the jacket protrudes slightly on one side of the zipper, which provides additional insulation .
There are two pockets on the front of the jacket in the stomach area, which can be closed with zippers. The zippers are fitted with easy-to-grip tags. There is also a pocket on the inside of the jacket. The jacket does not have a hood, but it does have a high collar with Nebulus lettering sewn onto the collar.
The outer fabric of the jacket is relatively thin, non-stretchy and tear-resistant. The lining, on the other hand, is clearly noticeable and correspondingly thick. The seams are even and clean. Unfortunately, there is an approximately 8 centimeter long, unsewn strip on the inside of the jacket, which means that the inner lining peeks out. Apart from this, there are no other visible manufacturing faults on the jacket.
Overall, the SÖLDEN winter jacket with its two colors and Nebulus patches is a discreet and fashionable piece of clothing.

ℹ️ Our practical test is the most relevant and therefore the most important. Here, the product has to undergo a wide range of criteria and tests. We check the functions and product promises of the test article.

The SÖLDEN winter jacket is available in various sizes for men from M to 3XL. For our test , we received the jacket in size M for men. Our tester, who is 170 cm tall, found the jacket in size M to be a little too wide, giving it a baggy feel. Even with the zipper closed, there is a noticeable gap between the jacket and the upper body, which leads to a certain airiness. Nevertheless, it is the right length so that it ends at the right height.
Even after being worn for a long time , the jacket is still very comfortable. Thanks to its construction with two layers of fabric and the lining in between, it keeps you warm despite being relatively light. Due to the generous fit of the winter jacket, there is a possibility of cold air being drawn into the jacket from below in windy conditions. It is therefore advisable to wear additional layers of clothing in particularly cold weather conditions. When the zipper is closed all the way to the top, the collar fits a little closer to the neck and reaches up to the head. As a result, the collar fulfills its function and effectively protects the neck from the cold. Unfortunately, we noticed in our test that the zipper on the front tends to jam. This is caused by the overlap to the insulation on the inside, which easily gets caught in the opener. Care must therefore be taken to keep the overlap away from the zipper, especially when closing. If this problem did not occur, the zipper would be easy to operate even when wearing gloves thanks to the pendant.
During our test, the belly pockets proved to be extremely useful. The inside pocket also proved to be very practical for storing valuables.
An ideal winter jacket should be water-repellent . We therefore tested the jacket by spraying the surface with water. This shows the advantage of the smooth surface: it proves to be extremely water-repellent. The water rolls off immediately and falls to the ground. The surface of the jacket does not absorb any water and remains dry, so that the inside remains comfortably protected.
In the last part of our practical test, we washed the winter jacket according to the manufacturer’s instructions. For the SÖLDEN jacket, this means an easy-care wash cycle at 30 °C without drying and ironing, which corresponds to the usual recommendations for comparable garments. Unfortunately, washing at 60 °C, as would be recommended after sporting activities or heavy soiling, for example, is not possible. After washing, the jacket smells of the detergent used, but otherwise there are no noticeable differences. The jacket survives the washing process without damage or fading.
Overall, the SÖLDEN winter jacket impressed us in our practical test. It is extremely comfortable, keeps you extremely warm, is highly water-repellent and is also easy to wash.

ℹ️ Finally, we look at how the product compares to the competition. Can it keep up with the competition in terms of price and quality? Would we generally recommend buying it? We also examine consumer ratings and check whether the critical and positive reviews are actually justified.
