The homogeneous heat distribution helps with even roasting and braising. Both the roasting pan and the lid, which can be used as a frying pan , deliver great roasting results. The quality of the roaster also stands out during cleaning. The natural patina ensures that nothing burns during cooking and cleaning is very simple with warm water and a sponge. The enclosed instructions explain the most important tips for preparing, using and cleaning the roaster. The only thing that might limit some users when cooking with the Flavemotion cast iron roaster is its shape and size.

The cast iron roaster from Flavemotion arrived in the typical Amazon box. The box was undamaged. Inside the box was the actual Flavemotion box, which is beautifully and clearly laid out. This in turn contained the roaster with lid, which can also be used as a pan! The box also contained two red rubber cooking gloves, instructions and a thank you note. The roaster, lid and gloves were all packed in plastic bags. This would not have been necessary in every case. In this case, however, the product was fully protected and the roaster was therefore in perfect condition.
The packaging of the roaster is partly recyclable. Unfortunately, the plastic bags are not recyclable, but the Amazon box and the Flavemotion box are.
Overall, the Flavemotion cast iron roaster makes a very good first impression.

After unpacking, there were several things on the work surface. In addition to the roasting pan, lid and rubber oven gloves, instructions and a thank you letter were included. These instructions contain information on the use and care of the product in German and English. The contact information is spread across the letter and the box. The only thing we could not find was a telephone number for Flavemotion. The customer is kindly informed that customer service can be contacted at any time using the contact details provided.
All in all, this is an extremely well thought-out and customer-friendly way of sending a product, the only thing missing is full contact information such as a telephone number.

The roaster is made of cast iron and has an oval shape. It holds up to 4.6 liters, making it one of the smaller roasters on the market. The lid, which can also be used as a frying pan, is also made of cast iron in the same shape and holds almost 1.5 liters. The lid has a ribbed inside. Both the roaster and the lid have small handles on the left and right which, when placed on top of each other, form slightly higher handles. The lid sits securely on the roasting pan. Together, the roaster and lid weigh 6.5 kg. This makes it quite heavy, but extremely sturdy. There is nothing to criticize about the workmanship of our test model. Visually, the roaster is quite simple but beautifully designed, with a few decorations on the outside of the lid. The name of the company is also engraved. Although a cast iron pot is very energy-intensive to produce, it is extremely durable, making it a thoroughly sustainable product.

We enjoyed cooking with the cast iron roaster during the test. Before the test cooking, we reinforced the partially burnt patina as described in the instructions. We prepared both vegetarian and meat dishes for our test. The roaster always ensured even heat distribution , which had a positive effect on the cooking results. Searing also worked extremely well both in the roasting pan and in the lidded pan. We didn’t burn anything and the frying results were impressive. The roasting pan is easy to handle, although the heavy weight may cause some people slight problems. As it is an oval roasting pan, it can be a problem on a hob with only round plates that parts of the plate are not covered or only part of the roasting base is supplied with heat. The roaster could be slightly larger for some applications. The additional function of being able to use the lid as a pan was fully convincing. The roaster can only be cleaned with hot water and usually works perfectly after a short soak.

In our practical test, we were able to confirm the positive points and also identify where the few points of criticism come from.

The Flavemotion roaster is currently priced at €64.90, which puts it in the middle price segment. For the quality and the range of services you get, the price ratio is almost very good.
