The packaging and labelling
ℹ️ Here we take a closer look at packaging. Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important factor. In addition, adequate protection of the product must of course also be ensured.

---|---|---|
Product protection | Carton is sturdy, product sufficiently protected | 100 points |
Sustainability Packaging | Largely dispensed with unnecessary packaging waste, items were packed compactly | 90 points |

The enduro helmet with sun visor from Broken Head was delivered in a typical shipping box. The shipping box was compact and the product had little room to move around. Both the shipping box and the product packaging were easy to open without tools. As a helmet does not have a square shape, the helmet was secured by a polystyrene support. The product packaging was undamaged and in perfect condition. The product packaging is a visually appealing black cardboard box that reflects Broken Head’s design concept. It contained the helmet, which was packed in a black cloth bag and additionally wrapped in a foam film. The film provides additional protection against dirt and damage during transport.
As the product packaging is sufficiently robust, we believe that the film could have been dispensed with.
Apart from the film and the small amount of polystyrene, the helmet packaging is recyclable. Overall, the enduro helmet makes a very good impression.

To make unpacking the helmet an experience, Broken Head has included a few dive aways in the product box.
Before you open the product box, the supplied stickers catch your eye. There are two long stickers with the words “BROKEN HEAD ELITE” and a black round sticker. You also receive another envelope in a purple design. Although this envelope explicitly states that it must not be opened, we naturally opened it anyway. As a sign of disregarding this rule, you receive the “ticket” to become part of the Broken Head Elite in this envelope. You also get a little insight into what this elite is all about. A fabric wristband, similar to a typical festival wristband, completes the envelope. The wristband is black and has an eye-catching orange-coloured print. The marketing concept of the Broken Head rebel brand was fully realised and underlined by the promotional items. As already described, the helmet is packed in a black helmet bag. The Broken Head logo is also printed on the bag.
The instructions for use are very detailed and written in German. In addition to the instructions for use, there are further instructions on care and cleaning as well as information on the purchase decision. In addition to the instructions for use on the label, the care and cleaning instructions on the visor foil are also available in English.
Instructions on the correct helmet size are also included.
There are several reminders to contact Broken Head if you have any questions, require spare parts or need a safety check. These contact details are provided in full on the enclosed delivery note and on the ticket.

The enduro helmet offers a practical 3-in-1 function. Without the visor, it becomes a cross helmet. If the visor is removed, it becomes a full-face helmet. If you leave the helmet as it is supplied, it is an enduro helmet. The visor is Pinlock-ready. Two plastic pins on the sides are used to attach this so-called inner visor, which prevents the visor from fogging up. Matching Pinlock visors are available in the Broken Head Shop.
The helmet is approved for road use as it complies with the ECE 22.05 standard.
The helmet can be opened quickly thanks to the ratchet fasten er. This fastener does not pop open unintentionally in dangerous situations. This is a great advantage, especially from a safety point of view.
According to the manufacturer, the helmet shell is made of polycarbonate and has a total weight of approx. 1450 grams. This material makes the helmet lighter. This makes it more comfortable to wear and relieves pressure on the neck.
To live up to its name, the motto of the Road Pirate VX2 helmet has been fully realised. The matt black background features pirate skulls, compasses and other matching design elements. The design is definitely not run-of-the-mill, but a real eye-catcher.

Does the manufacturer keep its advertising promises?
ℹ️ Our practical test is the most relevant and therefore the most important. Here, the product has to undergo a wide range of criteria and tests. We check the functions and product promises of the test article.
Criterion | Remark | Points achieved* |
---|---|---|

As already mentioned, the helmet comes with a guide to the correct helmet size. This guide provides the most important tips for the correct helmet size. The guide recommends carrying out the cheek test. During the cheek test , the side pads should fit snugly against the cheeks. The helmet is too big if no pressure can be felt on the cheeks.
The next step is to move the head to check whether the helmet moves with it. If the head can be moved inside the helmet, it is too big. Finally, the guide recommends the little finger test. In this test, you try to slide your little finger between your forehead and the helmet. If the helmet fits correctly, the little finger should not fit in between.
There are also two important tips that you should bear in mind when choosing the right helmet size.
The enduro helmet has an integrated sun visor. The sun visor can be easily pushed down using a lever on the left-hand side of the helmet. Thanks to this lever, the sun visor can also be operated quickly with one hand.
A ventilation system on the forehead and chin allows fresh air to flow into the helmet and stale air to escape. This system can also be adjusted via sliders on the visor.
The inner lining can be removed from the helmet and even washed in the washing machine. The helmet and visor can be washed by hand with water and neutral soap.
Price/performance ratio
and ratings from consumers
ℹ️ Finally, we look at how the product compares to the competition. Can it keep up with the competition in terms of price and quality? Would we generally recommend buying it? We also analyse consumer reviews and check whether the critical and positive reviews are actually justified.
Criterion | Remark | Points achieved* |
---|---|---|

Rating cut | 4.3 out of 5.0 on Amazon | 65 points |
Total | 83 points |
