In our test, the PETITONE radiator bleeding box made a very good impression. The radiator bleeding box enables very quick and uncomplicated bleeding of radiators without the need for additional tools. Thanks to the supplied instructions for use, this is also possible for beginners and non-professionals without any problems. The heating valve can be easily opened and closed again using the rotary knob and the water flows directly into the tank below. The tool therefore proves to be a practical gadget for bleeding air from heaters.

The packaging and labelling
ℹ️ Here we take a closer look at packaging. Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important factor. In addition, adequate protection of the product must of course also be ensured.
Criterion | Remark | Score achieved* |
---|---|---|
Product protection | Carton is sturdy, product sufficiently protected | 100 points |
Sustainability Packaging | Unnecessary packaging waste was avoided, items were packed compactly | 100 points |
Packaging design | Practical and convenient packaging, also suitable for storage | 100 points |
Total | 100 points |

The PETITONE heater air vent arrived in the typical Amazon box. The box was undamaged and was easy to open without any tools. Inside the box was the product in its actual packaging, another cardboard box, but printed with the brand name and product description. The box was not glued and was therefore also easy to open without damaging the box. This means that the box can be securely closed again after opening and can therefore still be used to store the heater deaerator. As it is customised to the product, it securely encloses the heater deaerator and protects it from possible damage during transport. Alternatively, the box can also be recycled as waste paper. Inside the box, the heater deaerator is packed without any additional, unnecessary plastic packaging. The first impression is therefore positive.
After unpacking
Package contents and instructions
ℹ️ Most people’s first impression after unpacking is immediately memorable. Are the contents of the pack complete and does the manufacturer make it as easy as possible for me to use the product straight away?
Criterion | Remark | Points achieved* |
---|---|---|
Package contents & scope | Product is one-piece, but complete | 100 points |
Instructions for use | Written in German, easy to understand | 100 points |
Contact information | Can be found in the instructions and on the product packaging, telephone number missing | 90 points |

The heater deaerator consists of a single, fully assembled part. No other equipment is included, but is not required.
In addition to the heater deaerator, there is also a folded instruction manual in the product packaging. The operating instructions are in German and explain how to use the product briefly but clearly in four steps. There is also an e-mail address on the instructions and a QR code for product evaluation.
Further contact information can be found on the product packaging. The brand name is printed here, but this can also be found on the instructions and on the product itself. The address of the company and the name of the managing director can also be found here. However, the address is partially covered by a sticker with a barcode, which can be removed without leaving any residue. Unfortunately, a telephone number cannot be found.

Product processing and appearance
ℹ️ Before we start the practical test, we take a close look at the product processing. How high quality are the materials used? Is the look and feel satisfactory?
Criterion | Remark | Score achieved* |

Processing | Simple, but sufficient | 80 points |
Stability | Product withstood the test without any signs of use | 100 points |

The heating air vent consists of a white, slightly translucent hollow body, which later serves as a collection container. The hollow body is semi-circular at the top and rectangular at the bottom. A red rotary wheel, which is connected to a metal shaft, protrudes approximately in the centre of the semi-circle. The hollow body and adjusting wheel are made of plastic, the shaft of brass. An expansion of the hollow body into the interior serves as a bearing for the shaft. The shaft ends in a square spanner suitable for heating elements. It can also be moved axially by about half a centimetre. A shoulder at the height of the spanner prevents the shaft from falling out. There is a circular opening on the back of the hollow body, in the centre of which the key is located. The dimensions of the heater vent are very compact at 105 mm high, 65 mm wide and 35 mm deep.
At first glance, the heater air vent looks inexpensive and functional. However, as there are no aesthetic requirements for a heating air vent and it is usually packed away again immediately after use, this is perfectly acceptable. The design impresses with its simplicity. If the heater deaerator is to be stored for a longer period of time, it also takes up very little space.

Does the manufacturer keep its advertising promises?
ℹ️ Our practical test is the most relevant and therefore the most important. Here, the product has to undergo a wide range of criteria and tests. We check the functions and product promises of the test article.
Criterion | Remark | Points achieved* |
---|---|---|
Description of the procedure in the instructions | Good description of radiator bleeding, description of water level control would be desirable | 90 points |
Operating the heating valve | Easy and soulful | 100 points |
Collecting heating water | No spillages, no splashes | 100 points |
Reading the fill level | Possible, but not in poor lighting conditions | 90 points |
Total | 95 points |
*The maximum score is 100 points
Using the heater deaerator works surprisingly well and simply. The instructions specify the steps to be taken. Firstly, the spanner is placed on the valve. It fits perfectly and connects the valve to the rotary knob. The hollow body is also placed directly under the valve as a collection container. The valve can be opened easily and sensitively using the rotary knob. The collection container must be held firmly so that it does not rotate when the valve is opened. Both hands are therefore required for bleeding. Heating water flows into the hollow body without dripping. The valve can also be conveniently resealed using the rotary knob before the collection container is removed. The light transmission of the collection container is sufficient to read the fill level. However, this is only possible to a limited extent in poor light. When the container is full, it can simply be emptied via the opening at the back.
Once the radiator has been bled, the water level in the heater should be checked and topped up if necessary. This is also listed as the fourth step in the operating instructions. The heater deaerator is not used for this. Nevertheless, it would be desirable to have instructions in the operating instructions describing how to proceed. Laypersons have to research this on the Internet. However, a description in the operating instructions would be very useful, especially for people who are not familiar with using the Internet.
All in all, bleeding radiators with the PETITONE heater bleeder is much easier and more convenient than with a separate spanner and collection container. The whole process only takes a few seconds. In addition, the risk of spilling heating water is minimised. The tested heater air vent therefore proves to be a practical and useful gadget for venting radiators.
Price/performance ratio
and ratings from consumers
ℹ️ Finally, we look at how the product compares to the competition. Can it keep up with the competition in terms of price and quality? Would we generally recommend buying it? We also analyse consumer reviews and check whether the critical and positive reviews are actually justified.
Criterion | Remark | Score achieved* |
---|---|---|
Price / performance ratio | Good price/performance ratio | 90 points |
Rating cut | 4.5 out of 5.0 on Amazon | 75 points |
Total | 83 points |
*The maximum score is 100 points
On the Amazon platform, consumers have given the product an average rating of 4.5 stars. One common criticism is that the heating air vent does not fit all heating valves. Many customers like the ease of use. In our practical test, we were able to confirm that it is really easy to use and can be used to bleed radiators quickly and easily. In our case, the key of the heater bleeder also fitted all the heaters we tested. However, as it is not adjustable, we cannot rule out the possibility that it may not fit on some radiators.
Prices of up to €13 are charged on the internet for equivalent products. Very inexpensive products are available from as little as €5.80. The PETITONE heater deaerator is currently priced at €9.95, which puts it in the mid-price segment. The price ratio is good for the quality and scope of services you get.
