Cargoshorts BEACH in test 2023

The BEACH cargo shorts from Nebulus made a very good overall impression in our test. The trousers have five practical pockets and an elastic waistband with a drawstring. They are available in six different colors and four different sizes. For our test, we received the trousers in the blue shade “Amparo” and in size M. The trousers fit loosely and are very comfortable. The material quality and workmanship are just as impressive as the practicality of the trousers. The trousers offer plenty of storage space and are comfortable even at high temperatures thanks to the loose cut. Unfortunately, none of the five pockets can be closed.

We have looked at and tested the product in detail in a practical test. In the following, we take a closer look at the features and impressions. The product is subjected to our test procedure from the packaging, materials and quality to the range of functions and handling.

ℹ️ Here we take a closer look at packaging. Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important factor. In addition, adequate protection of the product must of course also be ensured.

In our case, the BEACH cargo shorts from Nebulus were delivered together with other products in a sturdy shipping box. The shipping box was undamaged and could be easily opened with a knife or scissors. The shipping box was also optimally sized, as it was filled to the top. This protects the environment : not only is the amount of material required for the shipping box minimized, but the small space required by the package also ensures better utilization of the transport vehicles. Inside the box were the BEACH cargo shorts in their product packaging.
The product packaging consists of a transparent plastic bag in which the BEACH cargo shorts were packed. The film is tear-resistant and cannot be stretched. A Nebulus logo is printed on the front of the packaging. There is also a sticker with a barcode and the product name and size of the cargo shorts. There are warnings on the back that the bag poses a choking hazard. The information is available in four languages, including German and English.
The top of the bag has an opening that is sealed with an adhesive strip on the film. The adhesive strip is reusable. If the shorts are to be returned, the bag can be resealed with the existing adhesive strip. There is also a layer of thin paper between the individual layers of folded shorts to prevent the fabric of the shorts from rubbing against each other during transportation.
The shipping box and plastic bag protect the BEACH cargo shorts very well against damage and soiling.

ℹ️ Most people’s first impression after unpacking is immediately memorable. Are the contents of the package complete and does the manufacturer make it as easy as possible for me to use the product straight away?

As expected, the BEACH cargo shorts do not require any additional accessories and are delivered without them. There is a cardboard disc the size of a beer mat on the label, which is printed on both sides in high gloss with the Nebulus logo, which can also be found on the product packaging.
There are no instructions for use, but they are not required. Washing instructions can be found on a label on the inside of the pants, where this is illustrated with the familiar symbols. There is also information on the material composition of the BEACH cargo shorts and the size and product name.

ℹ️ Before we start the practical test, we take a close look at the product processing. How high quality are the materials used? Is the look and feel satisfactory?

For our test, we received the BEACH cargo shorts in the blue shade Amparo. In addition to this color, Nebulus also offers the trousers in five other colors. The blue color gives the trousers a friendly look. They are designed for men and are made from a comfortable fabric that offers optimum comfort .
As is usual with cargo shorts, the trousers also have several pockets. As with normal pants, there are two pockets on the frontbelow the waistband and two other large pockets in the thigh area. The trousers also have a back pocket on the right-hand side. The pockets cannot be closed. Although the two pockets in the thigh area have a typical cargo shorts fabric overlap above the pocket opening, this cannot be fixed. As a special visual highlight, Nebulus lettering with the Norwegian flag is sewn onto the right-hand side of these fabric overlaps.
The trousers do not have a belt or belt loops, but they do have an elastic waistband. The fly is only indicated and permanently sewn up. A drawstring is also sewn into the waistband, which can be tied at the front. As a further feature, two small eyelets are sewn into the waistband on both sides. This means that the trousers can even be hung on coat hooks.
The fabric of the trousers is relatively thin, barely stretchable and tear-resistant. According to the manufacturer, the trousers are made entirely of cotton. The weave of the fabric is even, very fine and gives the trousers a matt sheen. The seams are also all even and clean. There are hardly any protruding threads and, if there are any, they are only very short. Apart from this, there are no other manufacturing faults on the trousers.
Overall, the blue cargo shorts with the Nebulus lettering are a fashionable and practical item of clothing thanks to the many pockets. The quality of the fabrics used, the seams and the overall workmanship are also impressive.

ℹ️ Our practical test is the most relevant and therefore the most important. Here, the product has to undergo a wide range of criteria and tests. We check the functions and product promises of the test article.

The BEACH cargo shorts are sold in various sizes between S and XL. In our test, we received the trousers in M. For our tester, who is 170 cm tall, the trousers in M reach up to the beginning of the shins. The trousers have a very loose, cargo-style fit. Thanks to the elastic waistband, the trousers fit very comfortably and stay in place even without tying the drawstring. If the pockets are loaded with heavy objects, the trousers can be secured against slipping with the help of the drawstring . Another advantage is the low weight, which means that the trousers are hardly noticeable when worn as long as there are no objects in the pockets.
Thanks to the thin fabric and wide cut, the trousers are well ventilated and are therefore also suitable for hot summer days. When walking, the movement of the fabric pumps fresh air into the trouser legs, which ensures a pleasant climate inside despite the long length.
The storage space in the pockets is also impressive. The two pockets at thigh height in particular have a large capacity, as they can open outwards thanks to a sewn-in crease. Unfortunately, the BEACH cargo shorts only have one back pocket. A second back pocket could provide even more storage space. Another disadvantage is that none of the pockets can be closed. This means that items can easily fall out of the pockets during sporting or manual activities.
In the last part of our practical test, we wash the trousers according to the manufacturer’s instructions. For the BEACH tro users, this means an easy-care wash cycle at 30 °C without drying and ironing at 110 °C, which corresponds to the usual specifications for comparable garments. Unfortunately, washing at 60 °C, as would be recommended after sporting activities or heavy soiling, for example, is not possible. After washing, the laundry smells of the detergent used, but otherwise there is no noticeable difference. The trousers survive the washing process without damage or fading.
All in all, the BEACH cargo shorts impressed us in our practical test. They fit well, ensure a pleasant climate inside and are very practical thanks to the many pockets. However, it is a shame that the pockets cannot be closed.

ℹ️ Finally, we look at how the product compares to the competition. Can it keep up with the competition in terms of price and quality? Would we generally recommend buying it? We also examine consumer ratings and check whether the critical and positive reviews are actually justified.

On the Amazon platform, consumers have given the product an average rating of 4.6 stars. The quality of the seams is often criticized . Many customers like the look, fit and comfort of the cargo shorts. In our practical test, we were able to confirm that the fit and comfort are good. In our case, we also had hardly any complaints about the quality of the seams.

Prices of up to €76.95 are charged on the Internet for equivalent products. Very inexpensive products are available from as little as €13.99. However, cargo shorts for men are usually in the €25 to €50 range. The BEACH cargo shorts from Nebulus are currently in the lower price segment with a price of €29.99 on Amazon. The price ratio is very good for the quality and range of features you get.
