The pepper spray in a 2-pack from Wilhelm proved to be a reliable means of defence against animals or other dangerous situations, particularly suitable for outdoor activities such as walks or hikes. With a capacity of 40 ml, the spray is compact, handy and fits easily into any pocket. The aluminium housing with plastic button is robust and guarantees a long service life. The spray is available in two versions: jet or fog jet, both with a range of 4 to 8 metres. Due to the high concentration of 11% oleoresin capsicum, which corresponds to approx. 2 million Scoville, the spray is very effective and provides effective protection against aggressive animals. Although the spray is convincing in many respects, it would be helpful if additional information on correct use were included, especially for first-time users. Alternatively, the water training spray can also be purchased for this purpose.

Our practical test of the Wilhelm pepper spray shows that the product is impressive in terms of precision and reliability. The precise and targeted jet spray impressed in the test with a constant range of at least 5 metres, although the range was generally between 5 and 8 metres. The spray pattern has an even distribution with minimal droplets, minimising the risk of self-damage. Thanks to the high concentration of 11% oleoresin capsicum, which corresponds to around 2 million Scoville, the spray offers strong protection against aggressive animals. The compact size and low weight make handling easy and intuitive, so that the spray is quickly ready for use. After unlocking and a light press of the button, the spray starts immediately, which can be crucial in emergency situations. The integrated safety cap reliably prevents unintentional triggering and increases the user-friendliness and safety of the product. Overall, the pepper spray offers an effective and user-friendly solution for personal safety during outdoor activities.

On the Amazon platform, consumers rate the product with an average of 4.6 stars. Some criticise that the spray’s range was insufficient and that the product arrived defective. On the other hand, the compact design and high-quality workmanship are emphasised positively. In our practical test, we were able to confirm that the functional design with the safety cap is impressive and that consumer criticism of the range is not justified. The jet spray constantly reached at least 5 metres, which was completely sufficient in our tests to ensure effective protection.
Prices of up to €61.98 are charged on the Internet for equivalent products in packs of 2. The pepper spray in a pack of 2 from Wilhelm is therefore currently the cheapest with a price of €11.49. For the quality and performance received, the price-performance ratio is very good.
