The design of the solar panel is modern and unobtrusive, so that it blends in well with outdoor environments.
The workmanship is high quality and free from visual defects. We cannot identify any sharp edges or other visible defects.
Thanks to the special coating, the panel appears stable and resistant overall, which is essential for outdoor use. The metal eyelets for fastening are robust and allow flexible attachment. The foldable design is also robust, so no weak points could be identified here.
Sunnybag also sets high standards when it comes to sustainability. In addition to the certified SUNPOWER solar cells and plastic-free packaging, the manufacturer offers an extended warranty of five years upon product registration. The manufacturer thus underlines a sustainable and innovative product.

In order to test the Sunnybag SUNBOOSTER 14 in everyday use, it was tested under various conditions. Under optimal conditions – i.e. direct sunlight and a good angle to the sun – a smartphone could be charged at around 20 to 25 % per hour. The LED display changed to blue. However, as soon as it became slightly cloudy or the panel was not perfectly aligned with the sun, the charging performance dropped noticeably. Although charging was not completely interrupted at such times, it was significantly slower. The auto-restart function worked perfectly, but in poor light conditions this unfortunately leads to the charging process constantly switching on and off, meaning that a device is more likely to be discharged. A power bank is therefore strongly recommended as a buffer in cloudy conditions.
The robust construction of the panel is a positive feature. It was deliberately exposed to light rainfall and did not show any problems. The ETFE-coated surface proved to be scratch and impact resistant, so that the panel showed no visible signs of wear even after several days of outdoor use.
The metal fastening eyelets also made a stable impression and allowed the panel to be securely attached to rucksacks or tents. However, the size of the panel meant that attaching it to a rucksack only made limited sense – while walking, the angle to the sun is constantly changing, which makes the charging performance unreliable. Instead, the panel worked best when it was laid out or placed on a solid surface.
Another minor shortcoming is the cover for the USB ports. This is made of rubber and protects the ports from dirt and moisture, but could be a little tighter to ensure even better protection. On the other hand, the panel scores with its low weight of just 400 grams and the ability to fold it up. This means it can be stowed away in a rucksack to save space and quickly unfolded when required.
All in all, the practical test shows that the Sunnybag SUNBOOSTER 14 is a reliable power source for on the go – provided the weather conditions are favorable. If you plan to use it for continuous charging during a hike, you should plan a power bank as an intermediate storage device, as the charging power can fluctuate quickly due to changing sunlight. However, the panel is ideal for stationary applications, such as on a camping table or in a tent, and impresses with its high-quality workmanship and stable performance under good conditions.

Prices of up to €61.99 are charged on the Internet for equivalent products. Very inexpensive products are available from as little as €34.99 . The Sunnybag solar module is therefore currently in the upper price segment with a price of €59.99. For the quality and performance received, the price-performance ratio is very good.
