The Strandknirps pop-up beach shell is aimed at families who value quick sun protection, high functionality and child-friendly safety. In the test, the model particularly impressed with its innovative pop-up system, which creates a shady retreat on the beach, in the garden or in the park in just a few seconds.
Anoutstanding advantage is the integrated UV protection 50+ with the company’s own SilverProtect 2.0 coating, which reliably protects children’s sensitive skin from the sun’s rays. Air circulation is also excellent thanks to the all-round ventilation slits. Particularly practical: the closable fly screen and the hanging loop for toys ensure comfort and entertainment.
However, instructions in paper formwould be desirable, as access to the folding instructions is only possible via QR code – which is not practical everywhere.

The packaging of the Strandknirps Pop Up beach shell shows that functionality and environmental protection do not have to be a contradiction in terms. The product comes in a sturdy protective cover that prevents the shell from popping open automatically and also ensures safe transport. One positive aspect that struck us was the deliberate avoidance of unnecessary packaging waste – a step towards sustainable product presentation. The scope of delivery is complete and contains all the promised elements. The only criticism is that the instructions for use are only available via a QR code. This may seem digitally modern, but it could pose challenges for users without internet access. A printed alternative would have been even more customer-friendly here. Overall, however, the packaging makes a solid, well thought-out and environmentally friendly first impression.

The Strandknirps pop-up beach shell makes a thoroughly positive impression as soon as it is unpacked. The design is colourful, friendly and appealing, which is particularly popular with children. The workmanship is well thought out and the materials are of high quality. However, the assembly requires a little adjustment, as the integrated wires can become slightly deformed when first unfolded. However, once it has been brought into shape, the shell has a solid appearance. In terms of stability, we would have liked to see a little more resistance – the struts bend easily, especially in light winds. There is no sustainability information on the product itself, but the choice of more durable materials suggests that a certain degree of environmental awareness has been incorporated here. Overall, the shell impresses with its well thought-out design, its mobility and its child-friendly appearance.

In our practical test, the Strandknirps Pop Up beach shell proved to be an everyday companion for sunny days. The set-up was actually completed in under two minutes – even by one person alone. Dismantling also went smoothly within three minutes. On the negative side, however, the QR code for the video instructions was not available at times, which can lead to uncertainty when folding. The ventilation worked perfectly – the generous ventilation slits created a pleasant airflow inside the tent. The total weight of less than one kilogram makes the beach shell ideal for easy transport. In light winds, the shell stayed in place but showed minimal movement, which could be problematic in stronger winds. Nevertheless, the product largely fulfils the manufacturer’s promises and is therefore a recommendable solution for families with small children.
