About Us

Prüfengel offers authentic consumer tests in which real users share their experiences with products. Our tests are based on practical applications in everyday life and reflect the opinions of consumers. As we focus on consumer tests, we do not carry out any material, long-term or laboratory tests. The tests are carried out by 1-2 independent consumers over a period of 7-14 days. The exact test conditions can be viewed in the test plan of the respective test report – click here to go directly to the test plan.

Manufacturers provide the tested products free of charge. We charge a one-off test fee for carrying out the tests. In addition, manufacturers pay an annual licence fee for the use of the Prüfengel seal. We also receive a commission for linking to manufacturers’ websites. These remunerations have no influence on our test results or ratings.

We guarantee transparency and a fair evaluation. For a detailed insight into our comprehensive evaluation process, please click here.

COLAMY
Atlas Ergonomic Office Chair

Manufacturer’s Product Description

At first glance, the COLAMY Atlas looks like a modern, ergonomic office chair designed for people who need to work for long periods of time while maintaining concentration. Particularly striking is the high backrest with adjustable lumbar support, which promises a comfortable seating experience.

Many features, such as the headrest, armrests, and tilt mechanism, can be individually adjusted, making the chair highly versatile.

When sitting, however, it becomes apparent that the seat cushion’s padding is rather firm and can feel somewhat uncomfortable after prolonged use. The mesh material on the backrest provides good ventilation, though it doesn’t feel quite as high-quality as on more expensive models.

Overall, the chair gives the impression of being solid and functional, though it doesn’t quite live up to the expectations raised by the manufacturer’s ergonomic claims.

  • Good adjustment options
  • Breathable backrest
  • Solid basic stability
  • Very firm seat cushioning
  • Wobbly headrest

When unboxing the COLAMY Atlas, the first thing you notice is the sturdy packaging, which protects the chair well and appears neatly organized. Individual parts are neatly separated and protected with foam or plastic wrap, giving a professional impression. The package contents are complete, though some components feel lighter and less substantial than one might expect based on the product images. The included tool is functional but not particularly high-quality, so it’s better to use your own tools during assembly. The instructions are easy to understand and consistently illustrated with precise images, which makes assembly very straightforward. Overall, the first impression is solid but not outstanding—it neither disappoints nor particularly impresses.

The build quality of the COLAMY Atlas has its ups and downs. Some elements, such as the metal base and the gas lift, feel sturdy and durable. Other parts, however—particularly the armrests and the plastic trim—feel a bit cheaper and have slight gaps. The mesh fabric on the backrest is neatly tensioned, though not as fine or durable as on higher-priced office chairs. During assembly, it’s noticeable that while the screws grip well, some of the threads don’t appear to be perfectly machined, reinforcing the impression of rather average production quality. Visually, the chair has a modern look, but the combination of plastic and mesh appears less sophisticated than expected. The headrest is functional but a bit wobbly when subjected to heavier pressure or frequent adjustments. Overall , the chair gives the impression of solid but not particularly high-quality workmanship, which seems appropriate for the price.

The manufacturer markets the COLAMY Atlas as a premium ergonomic office chair designed to offer a high level of comfort and adjustability. Some of these promises are certainly fulfilled, such as the wide range of adjustment options and the breathable backrest. Nevertheless, practical testing reveals that not all features are implemented to the high standard suggested by the advertising. In particular, the stability of the armrests and the firmness of the seat cushion fall short of expectations. The headrest feels less stable than one would expect from an ergonomic model. The overall build quality is more in line with a solid mid-range product than a premium chair.

Overall, it can be said that the manufacturer partially lives up to its advertising claims but fails to fully deliver in key areas.
