Winter jacket mottled EMOTION in test 2023

The mottled EMOTION winter jacket from Nebulus made a very good overall impression in our test. The jacket for men is available in different colors and sizes, whereby the mottled area always consists of the same shades of grey. It has a full-length zipper, a high collar and closable pockets on the front. For our test, we received the jacket in black-black and in size M. The jacket fits our tester very well. The material quality and workmanship were just as impressive as the jacket in the practical test. This shows that the jacket fits comfortably for a long time, the smooth outer surface is extremely water-repellent and the lining of the jacket keeps you pleasantly warm.

In our case, the mottled EMOTION winter jacket from Nebulus was delivered together with other products in a sturdy shipping box. The shipping box was undamaged and could be easily opened with the help of a knife or scissors. The shipping box was also optimally sized so that it was filled to the top. This protects the environment: not only is the amount of material required for the shipping carton minimized, but the small space required by the package also ensures better utilization of the transport vehicles. Inside the box was the mottled winter jacket in its product packaging. The product packaging consists of a transparent plastic bag in which the mottled winter jacket was packed. The film is tear-resistant and cannot be stretched. A Nebulus logo is printed on the front of the packaging. There is also a sticker with a barcode, the product name and the size of the mottled winter jacket. There are warnings on the back that the bag poses a choking hazard. The information is available in four languages, including German and English. The bag has an opening at the top, which is sealed with an adhesive strip on the film. The adhesive strip is reusable. If the jacket is to be returned, the bag can be resealed with the existing adhesive strip. As you would expect, the EMOTION winter jacket does not require any additional accessories and is delivered without them. There is a cardboard disc the size of a beer mat on the label, which is printed on both sides in high gloss with the Nebulus logo, which can also be found on the product packaging.
There are no instructions for use, but they are not required. Washing instructions can be found on a label on the inside of the jacket, where this is illustrated with the familiar symbols. There is also information on the material composition of the EMOTION winter jacket, the size and the product name.

ℹ️ Before we start the practical test, we take a close look at the product processing. How high quality are the materials used? Is the look and feel satisfactory?

The mottled EMOTION winter jacket is a quilted jacket with row-shaped segments for men. These segments are filled with soft material. The outer and inner surfaces are made of a very fine, smooth fabric, which unfortunately feels somewhat synthetic. According to the manufacturer, this and the filling are made of polyester.
For our test, we received the winter jacket in black-black. The winter jacket is divided into two color sections: The collar, shoulders and arms are completely black. The upper body area, on the other hand, is mottled and appears gray from a distance. The mottling is printed on and consists of different shades of gray. The mottled part is always the same shade regardless of the color of the jacket.
There are Nebulus patches on the chest and shoulders for decoration. The inside of the jacket is largely black. The jacket is closed at the front with a black zipper . To prevent the cold from penetrating the inside of the jacket, the jacket protrudes slightly on one side of the zipper on the inside, which provides additional insulation.
There are two pockets on the front in the stomach area, which can also be closed with a zipper. An easy-to-grip pendant is attached to the zippers. The jacket also has a hanger on the collar so that it can be easily hung on a hook. An elastic band with an adjustable fastener is sewn into the bottom of the jacket. This allows the underside of the jacket to be cinched in and fits snugly around the upper body, which also keeps you warm. The jacket does not have a hood.
The fabric of the jacket is relatively thick, non-stretchy and tear-resistant. The seams are all even and clean. There are hardly any protruding threads and, if there are any, they are only very short. Apart from this, there are no other manufacturing faults on the jacket.
Overall, the EMOTION winter jacket with its two colors and Nebulus patches is a discreet and fashionable garment. The quality of the fabrics and seams used and the overall workmanship are also impressive.

ℹ️ Our practical test is the most relevant and therefore the most important. Here, the product has to undergo a wide range of criteria and tests. We check the functions and product promises of the test article.

The EMOTION winter jacket is sold in various sizes between S and 3XL. For our test, we received the jacket in M. The men’s version in M fits our 170 cm tall tester very well, with room for a few extra centimetres of height. The winter jacket fits well on the body. The length is also suitable and the jacket ends at the right height.
The jacket sits very comfortably even after long periods of wear. As the jacket consists of two layers of fabric with a lining in between, it keeps you very warm. Nevertheless, the jacket is relatively light. When the zipper is closed all the way to the top, the collar fits snugly around the neck and reaches up to the head. The collar thus fulfills its function, as it also effectively protects the neck from the cold. The zipper can also be easily operated with gloves thanks to the pendant.
The elastic band at the bottom of the jacket can be tightened to provide additional protection against the cold. The adjustment mechanism is released with a button on a clip, the elastic band can then be tightened or loosened as required. When the elastic band is tightened, the penetration of cold air from below is effectively prevented, even during dynamic movement.
In our test, the pockets on the waist proved to be very useful. Unfortunately, there are no pockets on the inside. From our point of view, however, it would have been practical to have one, for example to store valuables.
Ideally, a winter jacket should be water-repellent. We therefore tested the jacket by spraying the surface with water. This is where the smooth surface can show its advantages: it proves to be extremely water-repellent. The water rolls off immediately and falls to the ground. The surface of the jacket cannot be wetted with water and does not absorb water. This keeps the inside pleasantly dry.
In the last part of our practical test, we wash the winter jacket according to the manufacturer’s instructions. For the EMOTION jacket, this means an easy-care wash cycle at 30 °C without drying and ironing, which corresponds to the usual specifications for comparable garments. Unfortunately, washing at 60 °C, as would be recommended after sporting activities or heavy soiling, for example, is not possible. After washing, the jacket smells of the detergent used, but otherwise there is no noticeable difference. The jacket survives the washing process without any damage or fading.
Overall, the EMOTION winter jacket impressed us in our practical test. It is very comfortable, keeps you very warm, is highly water-repellent and also withstands washing without any problems.

ℹ️ Finally, we look at how the product compares to the competition. Can it keep up with the competition in terms of price and quality? Would we generally recommend buying it? We also examine consumer ratings and check whether the critical and positive reviews are actually justified.

On the Amazon platform, consumers have given the product an average rating of 4.8 stars. In line with the good rating, there is praise for the quality, design and how well the jacket keeps you warm. We can confirm this. The only point of criticism is that, according to many reviews, the jacket runs one size too small. In our case, however, the jacket fits very well in M, and our tester usually wears M.
